We had a fantastic room on the first floor, refurbished to its antique style, with two comfortable single beds, large mirrors (which optically made the small room more spacious), fancy wall tapestry, ...We had a fantastic room on the first floor, refurbished to its antique style, with two comfortable single beds, large mirrors (which optically made the small room more spacious), fancy wall tapestry, and a formidably high wooden ceiling. The window had a small antique tainted glass design, and while being fairly large, it kept the room more on the darker side, which added to the charm of the room. The bathroom was bright, modern, and well equipped (the towel rack needs some looking after), and the entry hall offered a well-sized wardrobe for our 6-day stay.
The staff at the reception, at the breakfast hall, or the cleaning service team was always very accommodating. We were able to check in early and leave our luggage in the storage room, which allowed for us to go on our first Rome sightseeing tour where we ended having an impromptu occasion to see the Pope firsthand and up close at an open air jubilee mass in Saint Peter’s Square. Carola, Carlo, and other receptionist were always helpful in pointing out places to go for sightseeing and dining, and how to move around the city, including the two days where public transport was on strike. After a long day, we always returned to an impeccable clean room with fresh soda water waiting for us.
The roof terrace is a wonderful place with nice outdoor furniture and potted plants and a pergola, where you can enjoy the distant view to the cupola of Saint Peter‘s basilica.
Breakfast was a good combination of continental and Italian, and gave us plenty of energy to enjoy the city for the rest of the day. The breakfast hall in the basement is well made and inviting, even without natural daylight, and also provides a general seating area with a few books on Rome laid out. It seems that one could even have a party in a side room with a counter.
Since we ended up going to the Vatican several times, the location was perfect for us.Show More
