So where to begin??? The location of the hotel is ideal for use of the trains, metro and buses - or even to walk to the major attractions if you choose to, which is exactly why my partner picked the hotel. However, due to its location the street noise was considerable, keeping windows and shutters closed helped somewhat- but if you stay i recomment you take earplugs!!!
Our room - a queen room on 4th floor - had a TV, mini fridge, hairdryer and air conditioning. The room and bathroom, although very basic, dated and tired were clean and were serviced while we were there, towels were changed and beds made. However none of the TV, mini fridge or air conditioning actually worked (hairdryer was not used so cant comment, apart from the fact it was a very old one). We didnt spend a lot of time in the room so it wasnt a huge thing for us. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on this also it was never offered and we didnt know they offered breakfast until we read reviews on our way home!! There were vending machines in the reception area. The bed was two singles pushed together, very hard mattresses and only one pillow each - I suppose we could have asked for more but to be honest I didnt want to it didnt seem worth the stress it may cause so we folded them over to double up - see below for explanation!!!
We encountered 4 different members of staff on the reception during our stay, 3 of whom were polite and friendly. However the male member of staff who greeted us on check in, and who was on duty the majority of our stay, was quite possibly the rudest most sullen person I have ever met. When we first arrived he barked at us to stay outside and wait while he deal with another person, which we did, luckily it was not raining!!! The only words after that he snapped at us were "passport", the room number, as well as ordering my partner to sign in and provide a phone number. We went to our room in shock and laughing at his poor attitude, we dumped our bags and headed out - as we passed through reception he again barked at us "Key!!" - at no point had he explained we would need to leave the key each time we left the hotel.
He was BEYOND rude to the point we dreaded him being there but also laughed and joked about it as it was so surreal to be spoken to and treated that way as paying guests!!! Like I said the others were all pleasant but this man was obnoxious!! He has clearly never had any customer service training and definitely does not have any people skills!!! My partner tried to kill him with kindness by always saying hello and wishing a good day - always met with nothing more than a blank stare or a grunt!!! It was so bad it was hilarious and luckily we did just see the funny side of it and didnt let him impact our trip.
The other thing that baffled us was that even though we were guests of the hotel we still had to pay 5euro per bag to leave them in the hotel after checkout and before our flight. They offer this service for non-guests but I feel as we actually stayed there this should have been included for us.
Overall the hotel was basic and was ok for a short stay, however due to this man's poor attitude and behaviour there would be no way on earth we would stay there again even if it was free of charge and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.Show More
