So, we were tired and appreciative that there are real live people t...We'd had a long day, finishing up the Via Francigena to Vatican City, then to the hotel - over 20 miles of walking with full packs. So, we were tired and appreciative that there are real live people to check-in with, not lockboxes hidden away in who-knows-where. But that's not why you called. Our room was a triple that we were charged for as a double. So it was a large room, kind of oddly laid out with high divider walls between "rooms". It was clean, as expected, and had a small balcony. The price was a little on the high side at 440 euros for two nights (but in line with other similar hotels), but that's the big city for you. (But see my comments about dinner and breakfast.) As tired as we were, we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise - our food was very good and reasonably priced. To make it even sweeter, we were given coupons for 10% off and a free drink if we bought two. Breakfast the next morning was exceptional! I literally could not think of a single thing more I would want to see laid out. And delicious, too! As that was included in the the price of the room, it helped level out what we paid for the room. Consider that a similar breakfast elsewhere would have been at least 20 euros each, the hotel now seems like a bargain.Show More

The communal areas were ok although could do with a freshen up. The lifts were tiny and old, made us wonder how wheelchair users manage as the lifts would be way too small. We liked the Trastevere area, lovely piazza and restaurants. But our standard quad room was weirdly laid out. No shortage of space but it wasn’t maximised. They have a comfortable king sized bed in a wooden central core which doesn’t reach the ceiling so you can’t watch the TV whilst the kids sleep without disturbing them. The other bed was a really uncomfortable sofa bed, why a sofa bed would be in the room when there is plenty of space for a second double is a mystery, I can’t see anyone actually wanting to hang out on the sofa. The table and chairs were redundant as no kitchenette so also a waste of space. Most of the electrical sockets had been capped off leaving only two which weren’t next to either bed. Only 2 main lights plus one bed side light had a bulb in it. The carpet was tatty and worn. The bath had black mould around it. Just all a bit old and dated. We were really disappointed but arrived late and so didn’t ask to move rooms as we needed to sleep. I wouldn’t stay again.Show More

The rooms had a musky scent, which at times smelled almost like sewage. A lot of the fixtures showed signs of wear and tear, including the bathroom fixtures in particular (which were not very nice), and the room felt dark and under-furnished. Some elements (e.g., the curtains) were dirty. Power to our room went out briefly twice, potentially due to a loose power socket. The location was not particularly nice, but was convenient to central Rome. There was a decent cafe and restaurant on the ground floor and breakfast was good.Show More
