Both stays were fantastic. The first stay was 2 nights in the city prior to a cruise departing the port of Civitavecchia and the second one night a week later after the cruise before flying back to the U.K. I will describe the overall experience of Rome in another review but this one focuses solely on the hotel.
Firstly I will say that the hotels location is excellent. It is up as quiet a side street as you can get in Rome, but very central. On our arrival around midday we were warmly greeted by Mattia on Reception. He arranged to look after our suitcases as we were very early arriving and check in wasn’t until 3pm. He was very friendly and immediately stood out, giving us a map of the city pointing out the best ways to get to see major sights we were interested in and offering to make restaurant recommendations if we needed them. His service was excellent. We left our luggage and went off to explore the city for a few hours till our room was ready. When we returned we found our suitcases had already been placed in our room for us which was very good . Mattia showed us into the main bar area of the hotel and also offered us two complimentary flutes of Prosecco which was a nice welcoming touch. This hotel also offers free cultural experiences daily which is fantastic if you have more time than we did. The day we arrived the hotel had a Tiramisu making/tasting going on but after a very early start and a lot of travelling we sadly missed out on this experience as we were so tired we needed to go and rest a while before going out for dinner.
Onto our room. We were able to sleep very well with little to no noise at night. We had a beautiful room. We were informed that this is the best room at this property. 502 on the 5th floor with close access to a roof terrace, which we may have used, if our stay had been longer. We were time short, and had so much to see in the city that apart from initially stepping out there we didn’t have the time to sit about and fully enjoy. The Room was beautifully laid out with a small atrium area which contained a wardrobe, sofa and patio door which led us out to a small balcony with a view. There was a beautifully clean modern 5 piece bathroom with a large basin, spacious level access shower and bidet. Main bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed with quality bedlinen, tv and all the usual amenities. There’s a good hairdryer in the room and when we asked to borrow an iron and ironing board it was provided immediately. Service here is exceptional and all the staff we encountered were very professional and friendly. I would go as far to say that their service and care made this hotel stand out from many other hotels we have stayed in around the world. We would certainly return here again on this basis alone, aswell as the fact that the hotel has been beautifully renovated and cleanliness is also excellent.
The breakfast is an Italian marvel with good coffee and tea. Fabulous lady and gentleman at breakfast ( sadly didn’t find out their names to recognise them) Fine selection of pastries, muffins etc and some hot items which we didn’t try. When in Rome etc etc. I made sure to indulge in the Torta de la nonna every morning. Only other thing I would have liked to have seen on the buffet was freshly squeezed orange juice rather than the made from concentrate stuff. All in all, we enjoyed breakfast here every morning of our two short stays.
The staff. Management please recognise these people as they are a true credit to your business. Absolutely incredible staff. Apart from Mattia on Reception other Reception staff of note were Maxim and Ionut. Always friendly and very pleasant. Another lady on reception who stood out for her thoughtfulness and amazing hospitality was Chiara. When we returned to the hotel for our second stay, we found we had been given the same lovely room again and Chiara sent us two beautiful pastries up to our room that afternoon to welcome us back, with a thoughtful sweet note. This made us feel very special and valued. The hotel stays with you were part of our honeymoon and the overall service and welcome shown to us during these stays ensure we will make the Hotel Viminale our only choice of hotel for a future stay in the City. We will return. As a retired Travel Agency Manager I will continue to recommend your hotel to my friends, family and contacts in Travel.Show More
