After reading all the reviews on trip advisor, we had high expectations. We were pleased that there was a pre-check in phone call prior to our arrival, we were expecting the service and amenities of a luxury boutique hotel. Unfortunately once we arrived, we checked into one of the Maison William Grey rooms, which in my opinion is one of the worst value hotel room I have ever booked. It is a bit more expensive than the regular Alcove King, and I thought that it will have a special ambiance for our special occasion. The room is unfortunately dark, we could not open the curtains because pedestrians will be walking by our room, it was loud at night with all the bars and restaurants, and garbage trucks came every morning at 6am. We complained to the front desk, and they changed our rooms after two nights of sleepless nights, and we thought they would give us an upgrade since we were so unhappy with our initial room choice. But instead they gave us a standard Alcove King room (which is actually cheaper than what we paid). The room itself is ok, no luxurious amenities that you will expect for this price range. The service is nothing personal and you have to pay a $55 fee to use the hotel's sauna. The internet is also very slow, which is unacceptable for a hotel that charges this premium pricing. Overall, I think the hotel is in the most beautiful part of Montreal, the terrace on 8th floor has spectacular views but it is not exclusive for hotel guests. For the hotel itself, the rooms are not luxurious by any means; the Maison William Grey room were being advertised as sort of an "upgrade" with a higher room rate, but in fact it is the worst rooms in the hotel and we cannot help but feel like we were being ripped off.Show More

From day one, Aline, our Wedding Specialist, went above and beyond to make sure...We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding at Hotel William Gray, a true 4.6-star gem in the heart of Old Port. From day one, Aline, our Wedding Specialist, went above and beyond to make sure my vision came to life. She was quick to respond, worked hand-in-hand with my coordinator, and most importantly, it was Aline who made it possible to upgrade both our reception ballroom and my bridal preparation suite. Thanks to her, we had a gorgeous larger ballroom with room for a live band stage and a spacious suite for getting ready with my bridal party. On the wedding day itself, the maître d’ seamlessly took over after Aline left, ensuring the entire night ran flawlessly. From the bar staff to servers, every team member went out of their way to make sure our guests were well cared for and even discreetly kept our celebration private. We also stayed at William Gray for three nights, with a complimentary wedding night stay complete with champagne and sweets — an unforgettable touch. The location in the heart of Old Port was perfect, the cleanliness and noise levels excellent, and while the value is on the higher end, the service and experience were absolutely worth it. Thank you to Aline, the maître d’, and the entire Hotel William Gray staff for giving us a wedding and stay we will never forget. Been there, done tha...To be honest, despite the strong reviews, I had a concern the William Grey would be just another trendy, noisy hotel in an old town that wasn't quite what it was cracked up to be. Been there, done that. Thankfully, our home for a few days after a 24-day cruise, it was just the opposite. We stayed in the Maison William Grey suite mid-week in September (so no rowdy partiers outside) and it was excellent. Comfortable bed, surprisingly quiet (though you could hear some street noise, but not enough to be bothersome) and that shower everybody raves about... Yes, it was that good, only better. We had two non-included breakfasts at the adjoining Maggie Oakes. Pricey but high quality. The location of the hotel for our purposes was excellent, and it was well-maintained. And, as so many others have, special shout-out to Eddy at the front desk, whose can-do attitude helped us around a potential hurdle that turned out not to be one... thanks to him! (P.S.: Thanks to the valet for the suggestion to use a taxi rather than Lyft/Uber to the airport. Their tip about how the taxis can use the express lane saved quite a bit of time and headache. Everyone at the venue was kind, professional, and made sure our day went perfectly with zero hiccups. The team even upgraded us to a larger ballroom at no extra cost, which was such a thoughtful surprise and made the celebration feel even more special. The food was absolutely delicious, and the suite provided for the night was stunning - elegant, comfortable, and the perfect way to end the evening. The hotel’s location in Old Montreal and its gorgeous interior design, especially that iconic staircase, made for breathtaking photos that we’ll treasure forever.
