From the staff on the front desk to the valet. This was our second time visiting LA and staying with Hotel Ziggy from across the pond. We were delighted to be back and welcomed back so warmly, always a good sign to see some of the same staff from the last visit too. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom, loved the zoom mirror in the bathroom and the generous toiletries on offer. We didn't use the mini bar however it was a generous offering and loved that there was a lot of space left in the fridge for your own drinks too - and some snacks on offer for if / when the 'munchies' took effect 😉. The beds are so comfy, exactly what we needed after an almost 12 hour flight and helped us to try and get over the jet lag. For us, it's the only place we'll be staying when we visit LA. Perfect location with local amenities within walking distance along with bars and restaurants too.Show More

It started off nice with no charge for a room change, but after that it was not so good. The front desk person had a condescending tone to her voice and said things like "I'll have you come over here" pointing to the other side of the desk where I was standing, and then "I'll need your ID to start"...not once a simple please. The room was clean, but noisy from people coming home after 2:00 am and door slamming close. But my biggest complaint is the extra charges and taxes. My room charge was $147 for the night but the total charge was $214 ($74 or 50% extra charges) one of which was a $35 "urban amenities fee" plus $5 of taxes on top of it.When I called to inquire about the cost, the again poorly trained front desk person said the charge was for the amenities at the hotel like the Wifi (we were never given a password) the pool (which was cold) the gym and even the soap in the bathroom. There is not parking except valet which is $65 a night. There was no coffee in the morning, to make another pot took 15 minutes and the kitchen had to be asked to bring it out. I get it that it's LA but come on have a bit more transparency about your hidden costs.Show More

Our room was quite small, with an even smaller bathroom. The air-conditioning was very loud, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. If you're a light-sleeper then this isn't the place for you to stay if it's hot in LA. Our window view also looked out onto a brick wall and car park, so it wasn’t exactly the most inviting space to spend time in. One of the biggest drawbacks was that room servicing (bins emptied, towels replaced, etc.) had to be booked 24 hours in advance, something not made clear when booking. For a hotel presenting itself as luxury or boutique, and charging $250 - $300 a night, this policy is something we would expect at a cheap roadside motel. On the positive side, most of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and chatty, which we appreciated. That said, we found it unusual that we weren’t able to split our payment across two credit cards when checking in. The music venue and on-site pizza place were lively and fun, which is probably the biggest appeal of staying here if that’s what you’re after. Overall, I wouldn't hurry back if I was returning to the area to stay.Show More

This is a location if you want a more lively “partied in” environment, not spic-and-span-peace-and-quiet, so keep that in mind. Daytime guest crowd seemed a little more middle aged, “hanging on to my youth” crowd (guilty as charged), but the evening crowd would bring in a much more vibrant, youthful and diverse crowd. Halloween night was PACKED and quite a fun party while we were there. The real standout for us aduring our stay, however, was Loren the Bartender™ who, by all accounts, might be the hardest working bartender we have ever seen. While doing enough prep work for an entire staff of people, she took breaks only to make fantastic drinks and had the perfect mix (see what I did there?) of both friendliness and sass that makes a great bartender - and that makes a great bar.Show More
