Originally, I was going to write a very favorable review, but my wife pointed out that we will want to come back, and we don’t want it to be completely booked, or have the reasonable rates go up. Nevertheless, I feel obliged to at least give credit to the front desk staff, who are friendly and helpful. Natalie saw that we were older, and not coming there for a Halloween party and assigned us a room on the top floor, away from the noise of the street and ground floor on Halloween. Speaking of the top floor, we had a terrific view of the city, including a partial view of the classic Capital Records building.
The valet parking was friendly and efficient, though we didn’t retrieve our car until we left. We were there to go to the Pantages Theater, which is only a block away. And all of the interesting spots on Hollywood Boulevard are walking distance. (We walked to Musso & Frank for dinner). That’s enough about convenience. I will probably edit out any reference to the Metro subway station being a short walk.
The room was well appointed, the bed comfortable, and the closet large enough for two people to share. (What’s with these hipster hotels with tiny 18” closets?). The linens and towels are of good quality, as were the toiletries. The huge tub was interesting, but slow to fill, even to a low level. I would have liked to have electric outlets closer to the desk, but I always carry an extension cord.
But wait, I found something negative! There is no coffee maker in the room! There’s plenty of coffee available in the hotel or nearby, but not in the room. I never make coffee in the room anyway, but you cannot heat up water for instant oatmeal. I should emphasize this in the final version of the review.
Most likely my final version will give the hotel fewer stars and some title like “Why No Coffee Maker?”Show More
