Imagine my surprise when I was upgraded to a slightly larger room. The check-in process was quite efficient and I was able to get settled in my room quickly. The room was clean though a bit dim for my liking. I found the bedding and mattress to be really comfortable, so I slept quite well. I had forgotten my toothbrush and toothpaste, but the hotel was able to quickly provide it for me when I asked. I stayed on the 14th floor, and I did hear some outside noises from my room but it was not loud enough to disrupt my sleep. The hotel is also located in K-town with many restaurant options that are open late. The hotel also has a subway entrance a couple steps away from the front door. Now onto the single bad experience I had. On the day of check out, I asked for my bags to be held at the hotel for about two hours. When I returned to pick them up, the staff member who gave me my bags asked, "Aren't you going to tip me?" I was caught off guard and felt embarrassed for having forgotten about tipping culture in the US. I unfortunately did not have cash on me, and I let them know, however, they replied back saying how they had "provided a service." It was an uncomfortable experience and luckily a friend who came with us offered a small tip on our behalf. I understand that it's customary to tip, but I did not believe it to be appropriate to ask for a tip in that manner. Although my stay ended on that note, I did find the hotel to be comfortable and the other staff members made up for that negative experience. I would consider staying at the Martinique again.Show More

Every staff member from the doormen, to the cafe/waitstaff, and receptionists were so kind and really made us feel welcomed. A special shout out to Hirenia and Sophia at the front desk who were so incredibly kind to us, and really made my birthday special! Hirenia even went above and beyond and hand drew me a card which was such a lovely surprise, and really touched my heart! The room was very clean upon our arrival, and the cleaning staff did a great job during our stay, even making a special trip up to collect our trash from takeout meals we ordered. You really can't beat the location, there was a subway station right on the corner of the street, which was super convenient given that it rained for one day of our trip so we didn't have to get drenched walking back to the hotel. It's also right in the middle of Koreatown, which means there's so many incredible restaurants and shops in walking distance. But if you don't want to leave the hotel the in-house cafe and restaurant had amazing food, and Chris at the cafe counter was so kind and helped us a lot during our visits! Last but not least, a big thanks to the bellhops who were very kind and gave us great directions, and also kept our luggage safe after we checked out so we could hit the last few spots on our itinerary! Overall, I'd highly recommend staying at the Martinique, we're already thinking about our next trip down! A big thanks to all!Show More

The room was cleaned daily, which seems to be a rarity these days. But be warned: the hotel charges what they variously refer to as a “Mandatory Charge” or a “Daily Mandatory Destination Charge” [in my case, $40/day] for “premium guest internet access [however, when you access the internet from your room, it says it’s free for 7 days]; daily $15 food & beverage credit; bicycle rental for four [never saw a bicycle and not sure I would dare using a bicycle in that congested area]; digital newspaper and magazine access [I’m sorry, what?]; exclusive access to concierge and ticketing services for premium NYC attractions [I’m sure].” I’m so tired of these slick attempts by hotels to levy ridiculous “mandatory" fees for services I had no interest in using (and I’m not sure they were even available). And if you miss the warning when you make the reservation, there’s no explanation of the fee on your confirmation email…just says “Mandatory Daily Charge.” Whatever.Show More

I pre-checked in with an electronic key and was given my room #. Upon arrival I was told by the front desk that they provided me with a “mini-suite” upgrade and give me a physical key card. When I went to my room they told a lie, it was a regular room - same room number from before (not good) from my electronic sing in, not a good start. In the morning around 8am, a loud hammering noise started over my bed, it then turned into a violently loud drilling noise. I called the front desk about the disturbance and asked the manager to come up to hear the severity of the noise and she stated “I believe you”, she did not show up. This tells me that they were aware of a problem with construction noise at the hotel. For compensation, she offered me a $15 dollar coupon for the restaurant. This was very insulting. The hotel has a massive ongoing construction that is not posted on the website or was ever communicated to guest. Don’t book here if you want to sleep!Show More
