Bags in hand, a little tired but full of excitement, we stepped into the lobby expecting a normal check-in. That’s when one of the most composed and beautiful women I’ve ever met greeted us with a calm smile and explained that due to an electrical issue caused by a previous guest, our reserved room had lost power and was unavailable for the night.
In most hotels, that kind of news means delay, frustration, and phone calls. But this was different. She wasn’t scrambling or making calls in front of us — everything had already been handled before we even arrived. She had anticipated the problem, coordinated with another NH property across town, secured a beautiful suite for us, arranged the taxi transfer, and even covered the fare.
She simply said, “We’ve already taken care of everything for you.”
And she meant it.
When we arrived at the second NH hotel, the transition was flawless. The staff greeted us by name, knew our story, and welcomed us like family. The woman there mirrored the same warmth, confidence, and elegance — a perfect continuation of the experience. Together, these two women represented what true hospitality looks like: foresight, communication, and care executed so smoothly that it feels invisible.
All of this happened during a time when the world was unpredictable — delays, disruptions, and shifting circumstances across Europe. Yet these women moved like professionals who refused to let chaos touch their guests. They didn’t just manage logistics; they managed peace.
And here’s where the story came full circle.
The next morning, after a long night exploring the Vatican and enjoying our last dinner in Rome, we accidentally slept through our alarm. By the time we woke up, we had barely 40 minutes to make it to the train station. As fate would have it, that station was directly across the street from the NH hotel we’d been relocated to.
Had we stayed at the original property, there’s a good chance we would have missed our international flight home to San Francisco.
The world works in mysterious ways. What started as a mishap turned into a blessing — a reminder that sometimes life reroutes you exactly where you’re meant to be.
NH should be proud to have women like these representing the brand — professionals who don’t just manage hotels, but moments that stay with people long after the trip is over.Show More
