We arrived during a very hot week. The air conditioner had problems keeping up. We were on the 8th floor.. Our room had two terrace balconies with beautiful views at night. During the day the heat pen...We arrived during a very hot week. The air conditioner had problems keeping up. We were on the 8th floor.. Our room had two terrace balconies with beautiful views at night. During the day the heat penetrated through the doors and did not help with keeping the room cool. Usually by bedtime the air conditioner would start to cool down the room. The bathroom was too crowded and somewhat unsanitary. The bathtub liner would stick to your body while showering. Once done, even though we took cold showers the bathroom would heat up and flow into the bedroom when we opened up the door. The room had a hostel type setup and very basic furnishings. Our room had no decorations at all on the walls. As mentioned, we were on the 8th floor and once we got off the very small elevator, the smell of sewage was apparent. We had friends that stayed on the 5th floor, even though their room was a bit better than ours, their air conditioner kept their room pretty cool. Their room had no windows, but had an area with an empty elevator shaft accessible in their room. The hotel breakfast package was a European type of breakfast (cheese/meats/ breads). Not at all what we are used to. They were very limited to what they offered. We decided to go out on Las Ramblas and looked for a breakfast more our style. Show More

We could not check in before 2pm like some other properties even for a fee. The balcony door to the room does not lock. I have never stayed in a hotel where the balcony door did not lock. I have never stayed in a hotel where the balcony door did not lock. The luggage can be dropped off to be held prior to check in but in a storage room that other people have access to. There was no one to safe guard the luggage. Other hotels have a concierge or someone to accept the luggage to hold and issue luggage receipts for pick up. We were leery about sleeping in a room with an unlocked balcony door which I did not book a room with a balcony, only with a window view. Because we did not want to leave our luggage in the unattended storage room, we waited until 2pm to check in. It was a dreadful experience. The public men’s bathroom by the lobby was filthy according to my husband. As New Yorkers, we are more careful about things. We were not expecting this experience.Show More

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. The room we had 109 was on first floor at the front. Very noisy due to work being carried out on street right in front of the hotel. We hardly slept a wink due to noise and air conditioning not working. There was no shower curtain above the bath and floor and sink got covered in water making it very unsafe. Take the RN2 train from Barcelona Airport terminal 2 to Passeig de Gracia transfer to Metro, just two stops to Liceu Metro. Ramblas Hotel is just two short blocks from Liceu. From Ramblas Hotel you go towards the water to Christopher Columbus Statue, go right and you will find bus stop for cruise port shuttle. Perfect location, will gladly stay again! Show More
