Organised by a local coach tour company. For a party of some 30 people not in the first flush of youth , we were treated like millionaires. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were allocated a Junior Suite overlooking Piccadilly. So this year I sustained a serious back injury, and my lovely wife looked after me - literally hand and foot - for almost three months while I regained mobility. So she was due an exceptional reward, and what better than a two night stay at the Ritz, includinding a dinner dance on Saturday, and a visit from our London based son, partner and grandson (nearly 2 years old) on Sunday. Plus departure on Monday after a superb lunch in the Restaurant.
We had a delightful interaction with a very polite and helpful young lady in the reservations department before arriving, and all our reservations for the Restaurant, the delightful Rivoli Bar and the Monday lunch were in place. On arrival, well before the official check in time of 1500 there was a slight delay, but a good excuse to enjoy a cocktail in the Grand Gallery. Then taken to our room , the Junior Suite as requested, and a chance to have a great chat with one of the senior concierge staff. After that the weekend proceeded seamlasly. When our family and much adored grandson arrived on Sunday, he was treated a high five from one of the porters Needless to say the housekeeping was exmplary, and we were treated like old friends by all the staff we encounted. So nice to be addressed by name by everyone we met with, as the staff say, Welcome Home, and we eagerly await our next visit.Show More
