Alex Bastovanov (Luxury Guest Relations Manager) responded within a few hours to let me know my room would be upgraded. To my surprise I was given the nicest hotel room I have stayed in. The room was beautiful, elegant, and posh! Alex had a birthday treat in the room and not 1 but 2 handwritten cards, a bottle of champagne, and a beautiful robe! These touches truly made me feel special. Alex continued to check on me throughout my stay and even brought me a special rose dessert the next day at breakfast. At checkout, Alex made sure to introduce me to the General Manager Mark Eberwein who was also very kind. To top all of this off I asked Alex if he knew anyone at the Ritz Carlton in Santa Barbara since I was checking in there the next day. Not only did Alex ensure I had one of the nicest rooms at that property, but he had them send a balloon with my name on it, chocolates which were personalized, and a note which said the SLS missed me. This is the type of service you rarely see anymore. SLS has a wonderful person in Alex, and it is his kindness and service which will make me loyal to this property!Show More

The bedroom air con was 65 F on arrival, and the living room quickly dropped to about 67 F after an hour. For such a large suite, that always impresses me. They had a lovely chocolate covered strawberries with sparking wine welcome amenity waiting for me. They brought a fan, but I never needed it. Shower pressure was strong. It was an accessible shower, but it really made no difference to me. WiFi was a solid 70 Mbps up and down. Breakfast room service was great. They largely covered it with the $40 F&B credit. Another reliable stay. Too bad it was so short.Show More

We were going to several stores around this area, that'...PLEASE READ this review before you stay at this hotel. I can assure you that you will not want to stay here. FIRST - THE GOOD: The location. We were going to several stores around this area, that's why we chose this hotel. We are also Ambassador Elite members (I believe that's the highest status) at Marriott properties and usually try to stay at Marriott hotels. Even though the room service food wasn't good - it did come super fast. THE BAD: Where do I even begin? I think the biggest offense out of the whole HORRIBLE - and I mean HORRIBLE - room design is the bathroom. THE TUB/SHOWER is honestly a DEATHTRAP and I am not exaggerating one bit. HONESTLY - who the hell designed this tub/shower? I PROMISE you that in order to get into the shower/tub, you have to step up about 3 feet into this death trap and then if that isn't a hazard in itself....the completely messed up shower head/nozzle actually has instructions as you have no clue how to turn this thing on. It has an overhead rain like thing from the ceiling, another handheld spray and then another thing that shoots water at you. Both nights that we were there it was like a flood on the floor because it leaks everywhere! I promise you...this is the truth!! Then..the bathroom design is so weird as the sink is TINY as hell...their is a weird mirror like thing that opens up into the bed area (I mean why???) and then the toilet and bed are like a foot apart - separated by a wall with zero insulation. So you better know who you are rooming with VERY WELL as you will really get to know them during this stay. ROOM SERVICE - the selection of food is just sad (the kids menu has more selections) and the prices are ASTRONOMICAL. Yes, I get room service is always pricey and I understand this is Beverly Hills...but $12 for a black coffee?? Really?? CHECK IN/CHECK OUT - Hotels nowadays I swear...you don't even stay for 24 hours as they check you in late and expect you out early....what's with that? Our rooms weren't ready until 4pm and they then wanted an 11 am checkout. NOPE! Thank heavens we had the AE status as we did get a somewhat later checkout. HOUSEKEEPING - Oh hell....I hate to slam housekeeping as I know this is a hard job. But we had to have someone who just wasn't feeling like doing their job while we were there. They didn't replace all the dirty towels BOTH DAYS we were there...made the beds really poorly and didn't empty the trash cans! What the ??? The rooms were NOT CHEAP - so this really was not good. CUSTOMER SERVICE - We had breakfast both days at the "restaurant" off the lobby and I don't recommend it. Poor customer service and just NOT a good experience at all. Food was very "meh" and I swear that Denny's would have done a better job. RESTAURANT OPTIONS - They only have 1 "restaurant" for breakfast and dinner. If you want lunch (as we did one day) - they only have the rooftop option - which is outside and it was hot as he** that day! Who wants to sit in 90 degree weather?? A true "luxury" hotel would not have rooftop dining only as an option for lunch. OVERALL this is NOT a "luxury" hotel. Stay here only if you plan on sleeping and not showering.Show More

A big part of this experience is due to Alex the Guest Relations Manager. Whether it’s a nice weekend getaway or a one night stay, Alex always knows my name & always goes out of his way to make my stay extraordinarily special. Special mention to Maria who works the nights she has been delivering me the delicious chocolate chip cookies for years! Also to Jaime who works at nights & Yoni and Martha who work in the afternoon. The staff of the SLS give the hotel its charm and I look forward to many more stays in the future. Thank you to all of you! So many names I could mention.Show More
