I really enjoyed my 3-night stay at the Walker. The location is excellent. You are one block from at least two subway stations. Plenty of restaurants and amenities in the area. I had an 8th floor acce...I really enjoyed my 3-night stay at the Walker. The location is excellent. You are one block from at least two subway stations. Plenty of restaurants and amenities in the area. I had an 8th floor accessible queen with a city view. I chose this room because based on the pictures I could tell that the bed could be accessed from all sides. In some of the other rooms the bed is right against the window. In the winter I could see that causing a chill for whoever has to sleep on that side. Because the shower in the accessible room is curbless, some water will get on the tile floor when you shower. Nothing the bath mat can’t handle and a small price to pay for a more spacious room. I paid about $425/night before tax. NY hotels are always more than I’d like to pay. However, considering that some chain hotels with little charm charge in this price range, I felt like the Walker was a nice alternative and a place that provided some character but also the comforts you’d hope for at this price point. There is a Blue Bottle coffee right in the lobby that opens at 6:30am, alternatively there’s a hotel-owned coffee and pastry bar, and a restaurant that serves all day. Honestly the only thing that irked me about the property was you had to walk up a bunch of steps to get in, and then reception is down in the basement, so more steps. There are even steps inside at the entry to get up to the elevator. Annoying with only a carry on, and probably very annoying with heavy checked bags or for someone who can’t climb stairs. I would go back assuming the rate was under $450.Show More

The staff were very friendly and helped me carry my luggage as soon as I walked in. The bathroom and bed were very clean and the room was very well-appointed and designed. Though I ended up not using it, the little cafe corner in the lobby was very cool and it looks like they had a lot of pastries in the morning.Show More
