Site of Katsunohashi Bridge
3.8
(8)This site marks where Katsunohashi Bridge, one of Kamakura's ten historic bridges, once stood. While the original bridge, a grand stone structure with a raised center, was removed around the end of the Meiji era and the river it spanned is now an underground culvert, a small stone monument and an adjacent stone pillar (likely a remnant of the bridge) commemorate its existence. The bridge was named after Okatsu no Kata, a concubine of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who had it built.

An elongated stone standing next to the monument is believed to be an original part of the bridge's foundation.
