I'll start with the positives. The hotel is in a convenient location, within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and shopping. The hotel is in a convenient location, within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and shopping. There was plenty of parking and you can directly walk onto the boardwalk from the hotel parking lot. The staff I interacted with were all attentive and friendly. The common areas of the hotel appeared well maintained and clean. My room was also in a good state of repair and was clean. The bed, pillow, and sheets were all very comfortable. However, some things just didn't meet my expectations for a four-star hotel. My room was the same size and had the same layout as any standard room in a budget motel; which is a far cry from the rooms I am accustomed to at other four-start hotels. My room had a wall-mounted air conditioner, which I would expect in a budget motel. This is the ONLY four-star hotel I have ever stayed at with wall-mounted air conditioners. Every other four-star hotel I've stayed at have had the quieter "closet style" HVAC units (I'm sure there's a technical word out there for them). The bathroom was absolutely identical to your average budget motel room bathroom. Now here is the bad... The noise in my room was absolutely outrageous from 9pm to 1am every single night of my stay. The parking lot of the mall and adjoining street next to the hotel are used by car enthusiasts, who gather at night to play incredibly loud music, do burn-outs, race, and do donuts. Anyone who doesn't believe me is more than welcome to look at the tire marks on the street and in the mall parking lot. The noise was so loud at times my window shook. One night, the smoke from the burn-outs even filled my room - on the sixth floor! While these gatherings are not the hotels fault nor something the hotel can control, they had a huge impact on my stay and inability to sleep. Since the hotel was sold-out during my stay, switching rooms was not possible. Travellers need to be aware before booking this hotel. If you are bothered by incredibly loud noise between 9pm and 1am, you're definitely going to want to avoid a room that faces the mall or the street next to the hotel.Show More

Front desk staff were excellent. They were friendly, informative and accommodating. I had asked for early checkin between noon and 1pm through the Bonvoy app, and this request was granted. We were ...Front desk staff were excellent. They were friendly, informative and accommodating. I had asked for early checkin between noon and 1pm through the Bonvoy app, and this request was granted. We were able to get a room right away when we arrive at 12:30. Later in the day, I needed a day use pass printed for the Lake Superior Provincial Park so that we could go directly to the trailhead instead of the Park office for our permit. The front desk staff printed the pass happily. The queen room had a view of the waterfront, was clean, beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel provided glass carafes in the room to fill with filtered water which was available where the ice machine was. The location was perfect and allowed us to walk along the boardwalk. We also tried both onsite restaurants, Fluid and View. Also went to the onsite Starbucks for drinks after our walk. We went to Fluid for lunch and had the delicious poke plate and the falafel bowl. Every bite was delicious! The outdoor patio was shaded and had great views of the water. We had dinner at the View and it was also excellent. We had the cedar planked salmon and the Korean fire noodles. The salmon was tasty and cooked perfectly. The noodles came with pork katsu which was crispy, not greasy and delicious. I think that the noodles were slightly too saucy and should have been spicier (could not taste any heat). Overall a great stay and would highly recommend. Show More
