As others note, the Rialto is an elegant hotel with dining inside and outside on the promenade at a busy part of the Grand Canal, within a few feet from the famous bridge, a Gondola rental €90 for 20-...As others note, the Rialto is an elegant hotel with dining inside and outside on the promenade at a busy part of the Grand Canal, within a few feet from the famous bridge, a Gondola rental €90 for 20-30 minutes, and the vaporetto stop. This makes it possible to arrive from the airport on a vaporetto as well as by private boat @ €150 for private speedboat to the airport. St Marks square and associated shopping is within easy walking distance. The desk was very helpful with questions on transportation and dining. Our upgraded room 105 was large and well furnished in Italian rococo style, and provides a great view of the busy canal and famous bridge which is swarming with tourists. Double pane windows kept the room quiet in spite of commercial activity in the canal during the early AM. We slept well and comfortably. The hotel responded almost immediately to my emailed question after departure. Trip Advisor had sold the room as canal view, the hotel said there was a mistake by Trip advisor, but Trip Advisor when contacted by phone negotiated an upgrade fee of €100 which they have agreed to reimburse. Room offered was otherwise going to be at the back of the Hotel without any view.Show More

The breakfast was very good. The hotel room was old, shower was tiny, and bed was uncomfortable. I know it’s an old city! But the carpet on the floor, the fabric walls, etc made it seem dusty and just not great when sharing a space with a previous guest. The worst part was the bellhop carried our bags down the hall and then opened his hand for a tip. My husband had €20 so he asked if the bellhop had change. He came back with 2 €10. Boy.. you did that on purpose but €10 for walking our bags 20ft is a bit much!!! He got his €10 but it felt super slimy and weird. We have yet to have that experience in the other hotels we stayed at! This was the worst hotel in the four cities we stayed at in Italy. If it wasn’t for location and breakfast I would give this place 2/5. I wouldn’t recommend. I’d find a better hotel. There are so many to choose from in Venice!Show More

Rundown carpet, tiny bathroom. No outlets (had to get an extension cord to plug into the bathroom just to charge my phone) in the walls or around the bed. Had to take the elevator up 2 floors & then carry my bags up 2 more flights of stairs!! Bed was seriously uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok. If location is all you're concerned with, enjoy your stay. But if you want anything like modern conveniences then look AND BOOK elsewhere!Show More

And people watching out that window endless. Amazingly quiet for the busy location. I had read it was noisy. So we were pleasantly surprised how dull the noise was once the window was closed. And even quiter when the shutters were closed. Staff was very accommodating! The included breakfast was good. Two downsides. No matter where we adjusted the shower it would go from cold to scalding hot. So, you had to time it and jump out of the water stream before it got to scalding and then dropping back down to cold. The bed was not horrible. But also not great. The pillows awful. My husband and I each used two pillows and still did not feel like much. If in Venice again we would definitely consider staying here again.Show More
