I liked absolutely nothing about this "hotel". Right from check in tk check out. The staff told me they moved me to another room when I checked in. A room they said was better the. A room they said was better the. The one I booked. After going into the room and double checking the room I had booked, it became quickly apparent in no way shape or form this new room I was switched to was not better then the one I booked. Back down to the front desk I go. Im usually very good and quite forgiving in these situations. The idiot front desk person kept apologizing and saying management would contact me. (Im still waiting) I showed her the room I booked and the room they switched me to with the bandaid thing on the carpet, whatever that other stuff was on the carpet and obvious burn marks on the head Board I wanted my original room with the amenities I booked for. This room had none of that. Completely dirty, garbage in the room, nothing but an old coffee maker, a TV that did not work, and a wholly unresponsive uncaring staff. If I didn't have pets with me I would have left. I was truly frightened I would walk away with an STI from this place. Instead, my skin is just really itchy. Whoever was in that room last even urinated in the toilet and did not care to flush. To properly articulate how filthy this room was is impossible. Ive traveled to quite a few countries and not even under developed "poorer" countries take better care then the staff and management at the Sandman. Utterly filthy. The view from the balcony of the the garbage everywhere was quite likely the best thing about the place!Show More

It does have a balcony that you can walk out and see airplane landing. Front desk gave us a room on the 6th floor facing the highway. But she offered that if we feel it’s too noisy, she can help us change to a more quieter room. The soundproofing of the room was good. But you still can hear traffic noise in the room, then the heater sound in the room is much louder, so I didn’t bother change. Most of the front desk and staff was okay. The shuttle to and from Vancouver International AirPort runs every 30 minutes. We had a drink at the restaurant and bar, the ambience was good. The lobby Starbucks experience was not good, no extra cup when asked, regret giving a tip. If you drive, just goto the nearby Tim Horton. This hotel is rated 4 stars was a bit reach.Show More
