7.9(2582)6/10 Nice enough - but sour taste
We stayed at the Warwick Hotel for three nights. Overall, our stay was pleasant, and the hotel's location was convenient for exploring Philadelphia. As first-time visitors, we enjoyed our time in the city—there's some absolutely amazing American history to experience, and the food… oh, the food!
That being said, after reflecting on our stay, the Warwick Hotel left us with a bit of a sour taste, especially compared to the expectations set by other hotels we've stayed at across the U.S. and around the world.
Positives:
Location – Central and convenient for exploration, with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.
Lobby – Busy, but we didn’t spend much time there.
Room – Spacious with a fairly comfortable bed. However, the room felt somewhat incomplete, as if missing furniture, like a couch to fill the space. The TV was large but positioned too far from the only seating option—the bed—making it difficult to watch. The room felt clean, though the décor was a bit dated.
Negatives:
Customer Service & Maintenance – On our first day, our toilet backed up. While we understand that these things happen, the response from reception was frustratingly inconvenient. It took two phone calls and an in-person visit to the front desk just to arrange for someone to review the issue. The maintenance team resolved it the following morning, but the process was unnecessarily difficult.
Deposit & In-Hotel Credit – We were required to put down a deposit, which is standard and not an issue. However, we were later informed that only a portion of it would be reimbursed, as we were given $30 in in-hotel market credit ($10 per night). This felt like a tactic to encourage additional spending, as the on-property shop had significantly higher prices than external stores. The front desk referring to this as a "deposit" was misleading since it wasn't fully refundable.
Tipping & Luggage Storage – When checking out, we asked the hotel to store our luggage until our evening train. This was handled securely, as expected. However, upon retrieving our bags, the desk clerk refused to hand them over without a tip. Tipping itself isn’t the issue—it was the way this was handled, as if our luggage was being held hostage. With only $20 bills on hand, the employee gladly took a $20 tip without offering change.
Final Thoughts:
Our stay at the Warwick Hotel was satisfactory, with some good perks. However, the negatives left a lasting sour impression that detracted from our experience.

2/10 Worst Hotel Experience!!
Came to Philly for the Eagles parade. Booked for 3 nights, only stayed 1. The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms do not match. The furniture is worn out and rusted, window shades dirty, carpet stained and sheets dingy. No wash cloths in the bathroom, luckily I had my own.
Now here's the worst part. There was a rat in our room. Yes, a small rat, it almost ran across my husband's foot. The front desk staff apologized and offered to change our room. I could tell by the response that it was not a surprise.
There was no way I was staying there. This was a big inconvenience and it took us over 2 hours to find another hotel because they were sold out. We ended up having to stay in Camden, NJ, which is just over the bridge. But, further away from the parade route.
The Warwick did give us a full refund for the 3 days. But, of course that takes a few days to receive. On top of what we had already paid we had to spend $735 for another hotel, plus uber back and forth across the bridge.
I will never book here again. The hotel is definitely not a 4 star.

2/10 Avoid this hotel
A horrible experience. Despite the glitzy lobby, this hotel is decrepit. We were given a small room (much smaller than the month before), stained carpet, with only one chair for two people – and it was worn leatherette, frayed and crumbling. The room looked out on a narrow air shaft with a blank brick wall four feet out – like a 19th century tenement. But the absolute worst aspect of our stay were the disgusting odors of burning fat that invaded the room (how? windows closed) from 4:30 p.m. until after midnight. Our clothes absorbed the horrible smell and needed dry cleaning at home. This room should be retired – and the restaurant’s ventilation fixed!

4/10 Read the Reviews and Don’t Stay Here
I should have known better based on the reviews but I prefer Marriott hotels usually and like the neighborhood. No way this is four stars. Lobby is nice. That’s about all I can say. The room was musty and old. Carpet was dirty and furniture cracked and damaged. The door didn’t have a latch on it. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing. Each night we were woken up by something extremely loud outside the window. We didn’t have hand towels. The TV was maybe from 1980? Next time I’ll skip warming points and stay elsewhere.

No way this is a 4 star hotel. What exactly is the advanced technology? The lobby is ok but it ends there. The room had dated furniture, a disgusting looking desk chair with cracks in it, cracks in the walls, dirty curtains, the clock radio did not work, and super hard towels. The area is lovely and the restaurants on premise were cool. Fix this place.

The location is fantastic you're in the middle of everything. The lobby and the restaurants are brand new and beautiful. The cleaning staff was also nice and asked multiple times if we needed anything.

Great location within a short walk of lots of cultural events and shopping. Found out that Kamala Harris was also staying there which was pretty cool.

Great location and housekeeping was amazingly efficient, accommodating and friendly, especially Camela, netta and Tanya. Gym was pretty good too. Many front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Great lobby, coffee shop and 2 restaurants. Large and comfortable rooms.
