I booked this property based after comparing other properties' review and because I wanted to earn Hilton points. It was just the two of us so the suite seemed quite spacious. We liked that the living and sleeping areas are separate. The shower is modern, floor to ceiling tile. Shampoo, conditioner, and soaps are Zero% (Gilchrist & Soames) and in large containers affixed to the wall. Our room was in the corner, nice and quiet. We had a view of the fountain, pool, and Joseph-Beth Booksellers cafe.
The complimentary breakfast was lackluster. On our first morning, the omelet station was out of mushroom and provolone. No problem as there were plenty of other ingredients to choose from. Other breakfast items were plentiful. On our second and last morning, the omelet station was out of mostly everything. What they did have was limited - ham, tomatoes, and feta. We felt bad for the chef repeatedly telling the guests what items were left. He mentioned they've had issues with deliveries. That it's also been a busy week. (Back to school for UK, maybe.) Other breakfast items were low. Bacon ran out. The fresh fruit had maybe 30 pieces left. I think the omelet station is probably the highlight. Breakfast wasn't "made-to-order" as advertised on this trip. We should have had a backup plan for breakfast elsewhere. We didn't have much time to go elsewhere before heading to the airport.
We went to the complimentary happy hour (5 or 5:30 start to 7:30, I can't recall.) It was 6pm and the snacks were eaten through. Not much left but trail mix. My husband and I had one comp drink each. Then, we ordered a non-comp drink each. It'd been a long, hot and humid day out. We decided to dine at the restaurant which was a poor decision. Eat elsewhere. The flavor was missing. My burger tasted more like char. Fries were just fine. Fried green tomatoes didn't tasted more like fried pickles which isn't necessarily bad in my opinion. I love pickles but.. yeah. Not what I ordered. It's just the breading really. My husband ordered fish and chips. He didn't really say much other than we should have gone to a restaurant.
The biggest issue was our room's door lock not properly engaging. (Always check your room's door when you exit! Don't just walk away.) We notified the front desk after our 1st overnight and on our way to breakfast. We let the door slam shut as all hotel doors should. However, the door could be pushed and there was about an inch of movement. I pushed on it without using the door handle and it opened. I let the door slam again and tried the door handle which did turn. With a little force, I was able to get into the room. We didn't even use our key that 2nd morning. "Keyless entry". We notified the front desk again after our 2nd overnight after breakfast. Technician arrived 15-20 minutes later but we asked him to return in an hour. We were packing up to check out. The lock wasn't fixed during our stay but we expect that it was done. The office manager, Karlee, was very nice and helpful in getting us comped.
Even without the lock issue, the food wasn't really that good. Other hotels are doing it better. Would we stay here again? Not sure.Show More
