After recently experiencing three Hawaiian luxury properties, Hotel Wailea stands out as an extraordinary failure. The room featured visibly dirty, worn furniture and outdated decor reminiscent of the early 2000s. Basic functionality was compromised: continuously running toilet, non-working clothes steamer, and uncomfortable air conditioning aimed directly at the bed.
The overcomplicated lighting system proved frustratingly difficult to operate. Dangerously insufficient pathway lighting caused my husband to fall during a pre-dawn walk to the gym, with staff displaying alarming incompetence in handling the incident.
Dining proved equally disappointing - unremarkable, overpriced food lacking Hawaiian authenticity. Adding insult to injury, our "welcome gift" arrived as we were literally departing for the airport, oops, sorry!
The staff appeared woefully undertrained and powerless to address concerns. This establishment has completely lost touch with contemporary luxury standards, explaining why discerning travelers, like me, choose Four Seasons (Lanai) or Ritz Carlton (Oahu) instead.
Between safety hazards, dysfunctional amenities, poor timing, subpar service, underwhelming food, and dated accommodations, Hotel Wailea exemplifies how not to operate a luxury property.

4/10 We Didn't Get It
Many fourplexes on a hill that is surrounded by residential homes and residential lots for sale. Apartment complex/condo look and vibe with well-manicured grounds. Very large elaborate central building with a restaurant, artificial waterfalls,
lobby seating, large meeting room, etc. I few people used the restaurant, and I only saw staff in other parts of the building. One bedroom apartment like room with many steps was clean and serviced daily. Attached are pictures of our view from the room and the 11'x12' patio. Most folks chose self-parking for ease of coming and going making the self-park lot always full when returning from exploring. The valets would put beach chairs and umbrellas in our trunk for exploring, a benefit we liked. We thought the restaurant pretentious, not a good location for nearby restaurants. For the money, we regret not getting a suite at a hotel with a good beach.

Overall, we were very impressed with Hotel Wailea. We loved the ambiance and vibe of the hotel. We appreciated all the extra details and touches that made the stay so welcoming. The hotel grounds are also stunning and very well kept. The adults-only aspect is why we booked in the first place and would stay at the hotel again just based on that alone. My only criticism is that the fine dining left something to be desired. The breakfast was amazing. Otherwise, Hotel Wailea is a lovely hotel. Well done!

10/10 Amazing Couple Resort
What a lovely stay at the Hotel Wailea. If you are a couple that just wants to relax in a private setting, this hotel is for you. Not a party hotel by any means, but a calm, relaxing getaway with a beautiful Bird Cage lounge and delightful restaurant overlooking the ocean. Their shuttle will take you and pick you up from anywhere in town and the hotel isn't far away, so we found that it truly was the best of both worlds! We would love to stay again.

We loved absolutely everything. The resort is exceptional in every way. The suites spoil you with their amenities. The resort itself is stunning, spotless with everything you could need, and a phenomenal restaurant. The pool area offers complimentary cabanas, sunscreen, and wonderful poolside bar and restaurant service.

Beautiful suite and lanai with Maui perfect sunsets. Suite has everything you need including snacks and beverages. Beautiful hotel with exceptional and friendly staff. Pool day was a dream (with great cocktails). Cannot wait to return.

8/10 Did not quite meet our expectations...
When we arrived there was a wedding reception going on and we were told the restaurant/bar wasn't open. Due to many rooms being occupied for the wedding we had to stay in a "celebratory suite" close to the busy road. Thankfully, we could move to another room further away from the road the next day which was acceptable, otherwise we would have checked out. In principle, these suites are nicely appointed and felt very comfortable, the terrace gave a great view, just it was a little annoying that the bar was closed and the restaurant plus the inconvenience with having to move... The architecture and grounds of the hotel are lovely (i.e. not being one of the massive blocks) and the breakfast area was nice. The staff, especially the bell boys were very friendly and shuttle service to/from restaurants is provided.

9/10 Tranquil place to enjoy some rest and relaxation with a view
Amazing hotel gym, great pool, and tranquil and quiet accommodations. I particularly like that the hotel and pool were 24-hours. An adults-only hotel where guests respect an ambience of relaxation and Zen is hard to come by! The snacks in the room were also great.

10/10 Perfect relaxing getaway!
Everything about Hotel Wailea is amazing. The food is incredible - The Birdcage, The Restaurant, and even the poolside food. We also did the luxe picnic and that food was fantastic as well. The hotel really goes out of their way to provide a quiet, romantic, and unique experience. The suites are large, well furnished, and comfortable. There is even a small kitchen with nespresso, a toaster, microwave, plates and utensils, refrigerator, freezer, cups. No, it’s not on the beach… however, if you want to go, let them know which beach and they’ll provide you chairs and an umbrella and they’ll drop you off and come pick you up. It’s absolutely worth the price for the serenity: nothing is crowded, no fighting for pool chairs or dinner reservations.

Well, this is was a real and very pleasant surprise, since I didn't expect the hotel to be so good and luxurious. The are is so green and lush with waterfalls, trees, intimate lighting. Small buildings with 2-3 rooms in each are located far from each other to give a really secluded feeling—we never felt like we're in a huge resort facility with tons of other people. The pool is spacious, yoga and fitness center is very good, plus, you have free yoga classes every morning.
Valet parking is free, and the staff will take you to the nearest town in their Mercs and Range Rovers, if you want to have a drink in a bar or a restaurant.
The room had all the amenities, including a very fancy Dyson hairdryer, with a ton of free sodas and snacks (that were restocked daily).
The service and the attention we got was beyond any expectations. You do feel special here.
The hotel restaurant was superb. We had a chance to compare it to the famous Mama's Fish House, and just trust me on this, the latter is too overpriced for the quality and the service you get.
We also got to visit the Four Seasons that was nearby, the one where they filmed the first season of The White Lotus, and boy oh boy was it disappointing. Four Seasons is an enormous anthill without any feel of a luxurious resort. So trust me on this, if you travel without children choose Hotel Wailea.

The best hotel with the best food and service. The rooms are incredible they have everything you need including complimentary coffee,soft drinks and snacks. The staff is friendly and so helpful. The pool is open 24h and the shuttles to the Wailea area are super convenient.

Very quiet and peaceful for the most part. Certainly a place to relax and recharge. The room was spacious, clean and well-appointed. Staff, were friendly, responsive and very helpful (in particular, Leah, the Manager of Guest Services). Little extras like complimentary snacks in the room was a nice touch.

The grounds are stunning! Unbelievably serine. The entire resort is just so beautiful and CLEAN. I highly recommend eating at The Restaurant and having LYNN as your server; I would request her! We stayed one week and I could have stayed two. I loved our room. It was so nice that my husband could go in the next room and watch golf and I could take a nap. Very private.

10/10 An exceptional overnight stay for my wife's birthday.
Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional. The food and staff were great, with a beautiful view. The room was also superlative, with a large sitting area, great bedroom and bathroom. We also appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave. The fitness room was well equipped, with a lovely view. Overall, an awesome experience. We would definitely return.

I have never made a review in booking, but for this hotel I have to make the best review, even thought we had trouble with hot shower in the first day, the hotel did every possible to compensate the issue, providing us with an update and giving us 50% off and free breakfast, beside of that, I have never seen a more gentle staff and a more incredible service in my life!

9/10 Ideal for couples who want a mellow and private stay in Maui.
Room: The size of the room and bathroom was amazing.
Lanai: Perfect for curling up and reading books.
Pool: The pool had a great low-key vibe; the biggest perk of a boutique and adults-only property is the lack of screaming children and plenty of pool chair availability.
Grounds: The grounds were vast and fun to explore.
Transportation: Cars were readily available to take you wherever you want to go.
Beach: Beach experience was perfect; they will take you there (2 minute drive), set you up with umbrella/chair/sunscreen/water, and pick you back up. So easy.

This hotel was reserved for a couple celebrating their babymoon. During their stay, they commented on how friendly and professional the staff was. They enjoyed having breakfast on the ocean-view balcony. They did not rent a car in Maui, so the private shuttle service was ideal! They also enjoyed the pool and cabanas. They also enjoyed mocktails at The Birdcage Bar and a three-course dinner at The Restaurant on their last day on the island. Initially, they checked out of Hotel Wailea after three nights to stay in another hotel to explore the west side of the island, but they didn't like it and returned to Hotel Wailea for the rest of their time on the island.

EVERYTHING! From check-in to check-out, everything at this hotel is worth celebrating. The premises itself are stunning and the facilities are wonderful. The hotel employees were friendly, gracious and helpful. The rooms themselves are large and have everything one would need for a comfortable stay - including complimentary snacks and drinks. The pool area is perfect to relax and enjoy the sun with poolside service. The shuttles are also convenient to take away the stresses of driving and/or parking. Having beach access with loungers and an umbrella just down the hill was also a pleasant treat. We also loved the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel.

wow where to start, the resort is incredibly beautiful and extremely accommodating. the room is spacious, private, clean and overlooking the beach. complimentary drinks and snacks, comfy bed, wireless chargers, huge bathroom, but the staff is where i have to give credit. there is a complimentary shuttle service that will take you anywhere in the waileka area. kudos to charles, matt, kai, jordan, gustavo, michael, zane, and david. these guys are prompt, attentive, and friendly. i was sad to say goodbye to them. their sense of friendliness matches their sense of urgency. Then there was our waitress at the pool Bailey who was the sweetest friendlies girl. 10/10

the property is simply perfect. The staff are the best I’ve ever experienced in all my travels. the rooms are comfortable and appointed with everything you might want. Even though we had torrential rain for our entire trip (sub optimal indeed) the beauty of the place and the whales in the distance made our holiday restful and easy.

This place is exceptional. A large resort but not a big brash noisy resort like some of the massive places nearer the beach. No kids...I repeat, no kids.
The suites are large and comfortable. They're quiet and you do not hear noise at all from any other guests. The views are spectacular. We stayed in suite 71, the views were entirely unbroken so the sunsets were a treat (I've included a picture of one). Very comfortable bed and thoughtful touches such as wireless charges in convenient places. A well stocked fridge and a few snacks to get us started.
The grounds are beautiful. Plenty of points of interest if you want a few minutes stroll.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. Willing to chat or maintain the peace and quiet, they take the lead from the guest.
The car service around Wailea is ideal. Instantly available, fast and comfortable. A few minutes ride to/from the beach, other hotels or restaurants in the area.
The beach services were great. The folks down there were very friendly, setup loungers and provided towels and water etc. Perfect location.
We managed to grab a cabana for one rainy day next to the pool. Very large and comfortable, staff always on hand to provide table service. Cabanas have loungers, sofas, ceiling fan, charging points and lights. The pool is the perfect size, seems to be warmed slightly. The jacuzzi was a delight.
The restaurant view was exceptional. The food was very good and service (apart from one person at breakfast, but let's say she was having a bad day) also friendly and efficient.
Did I mention there are no kids allowed. Worth mentioning just one more time...no kids.

I was surprised by the amount of complimentary sweet and savory local delights that were provided in this hotel. Among all (5 stars)Of the hotels and resorts I visited, this was the most generous of them all.
I liked the quiet atmosphere due to the hotel's policy that it is only for adults.
The hotel is located at a high altitude, I could see the beach and the other islands very clearly, which made me to take marvelous pictures.

Our second visit to Hotel Wailea after 4 years. Great hotel. Service level is world class. Restaurant best in maui. Great pool and poolside bar - barman is hilarious, like really good improvised theatre. Love the peaceful gardens - away from the beach but courtesy cars make this not a problem. Suites are superb - beautifully designed - those with sea views are perfect for sunset lovers.
