However, we had ...We had high hopes as I had a great stay here back in 2017. The hotel rooms have modern, attractive designs and it feels upscale at first glance. The staff are friendly and responsive. However, we had some serious hygiene concerns with our initial room which really spoiled the trip for us. Concerns were addressed by staff and we were moved to a new room. We couldn't get either room to cool down from 24°c to a more comfortable temperature for sleeping. Maintenance technician checked air flow which showed everything was working as intended but we still couldn't get the temperature to drop. Found it hard to sleep in a hot room. All of this really brought the rating down for us. Hotel is located close to restaurants and bars so there's lots of dining options. 15 minute walk to Parliament. Great cocktails at the hotel bar. No parking onsite, valet garage is down the street and you need to give the hotel 30 minutes notice if you need your vehicle. Valet parking doesn't operate before 06:00--important to know if planning an early departure. There are public parking lots within a few minute's drive. This local part of Ottawa felt sketchy and dirty. Garbage on the streets, homeless encampments nearby, almost stepped in vomit on the way back from breakfast. Lots of construction in the area at the time of this review--end of October 2025. After reflecting on our trip, I think our problem was that we had pre-pandemic expectations in a post-pandemic service industry. You'll only be disappointed if you have expectations.Show More

The hotel is literally across the street from ByWard Market and a short walk to Parliament hills, National Gallery of Canada, Notre Dame etc. We had a lovely time visiting museums and sightseeing. At night, we didn't feel overly cramped either in our room. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable (one of the best hotel sleeps I ever had even with my not-so-little one kicking me the entire night). We also really appreciated the space by the vanity and two, not one, areas allocated to the suitcases. The complimentary ear plugs, snacks and bottled water were also a nice touch. Water pressure was unfortunately on the low end and bathroom ventilation could definitely use some work.Show More
