Th...I have looked at this hotel for years and have been curious. I wish I had continued to look only as nothing about this stay was impressive. The room was a room, great views of other ugly buildings. The bed was horrible, it’s great if you are used to sleeping on a piece of wood with a pillow. I always want an extra pillow, I used to request one and have since stopped as there is always an extra in the closet, not here. After an awful night sleep I had a shower that had almost no pressure. There was also mold sludge in the crack of the sink, no thank you. We did advise the desk upon leaving, that we were not happy with our sleep as the bed was terrible. Not that it mattered. If you like a comfortable bed, don’t stay here. Oh yes there is also no parking with the hotel unless you want to spend $50.00 on concierge, no thanks.Show More

Can hear your neighbour flush their toilet Worse thing - woken up at 4 am by neighbours drunk banging on their door and could hear them talk for another 30 min. I was wearing noise cancellation headphones too! That was how loud they were! I’ve stayed at other hotels in Ottawa. This is the worse. Never coming back here. Fairman chateau Laurier still the best. Lord Elgin hotel is so bad. Oh it took 5-6 mins of running the shower to get hot water!!!Show More

The hotel itself has everything you need -- restaurant, comfortable room, pool, wifi, concierge desk, easy access to taxis, some meeting rooms, etc. The rooms are quite small, reflecting its historic Second World War origins, so the bathroom is really small, and getting to one side of the bed requires one to walk sideways and carefully. Small point -- it would be good to put hooks in the bathroom on the back of the door, rather than over the toilet where this average size woman simply could not comfortably reach. The smell was amazing!! We had breakfast each day, such a great variety to choose from and fresh each day. We had dinner in their restaurant on our first night. A little more expensive than what we are used to, but very much worth it! Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. Lord Elgin is within walking distance to Parliament Hill, Rideau canal and Bywater Market.Show More
