It could not have been a more pleasant experience - we loved this hotel! The hotel, and the spacious room we occupied, had a cozy and welcoming feel to it. Our room had all the essentials and thoughtful touches you could want, and the hotel's public spaces were well thought-out and executed.
The provided toiletries in our room (hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner) were a nice touch. The room we occupied had a small kitchenette (sink, microwave, small fridge, cutlery, utensils, plates, etc.) and a balcony (even though it was early winter and therefore no longer balcony season). The bed was extremely comfy but the frame made a loud, metallic clanking sound when getting on or off the bed. The bathroom towels were thick and felt very nice. There was always plenty of hot water, albeit at a low pressure.
The hotel was immaculately clean, very quiet (we did not hear any neighbours), and the Wi-Fi signal solid and strong. Staff at this hotel are one of its strengths - everyone we dealt with (Reception, Dining Room, Housekeeping) were friendly, considerate and helpful. Reception retained our suitcases after check-out so we could attend Ottawa's Remembrance Day ceremonies - this was appreciated. The hotel offers a delicious breakfast with plenty of hot and cold offerings. Many of the hotel's walls were peppered with wonderful paintings by local artist B.F. Wallace - those were much appreciated and added a colourful and homey touch. Also, the fireplace in the lounge/breakfast room was appealing. In terms of a central location in Ottawa, you simply could not beat it - the hotel was close to many of Ottawa's attractions.
The only negative thing I found while staying was the extremely poor water pressure in the shower. This may have been related to our location on the top floor, furthest from the building's water source. Also, we had to let the hot water taps in the bathroom run for over a minute before the hot water would become available - again, this may be distance-related to our room on the top floor.
All in all, a great experience. Thank you Byward Blue Inn! We will definitely return to stay during Ottawa's warmer season.Show More
