Among hotels of similar level, this one stands out for its thoughtful service and attention to detail. The staff were consistently warm and helpful — from the front desk and concierge to the transportation team, restaurant servers, cleaning staff, and luggage attendants. Everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. What impressed us most was how comprehensive the services were. The hotel helped us arrange taxis, airport shuttles, and even a private driver for a day trip outside of Taipei, which was the highlight of our stay. They also offer on-site currency exchange, which was very convenient. The hotel itself is true to its name — grand in design, well-maintained, and very clean. There's a real sense of history and elegance throughout the property. For the level of comfort and service provided, we felt the price was more than fair. We managed to get a room at a promo price to experience this 5 star hotel… it’s really worth the experience… i feel the hotel can be a place of interest by itself even for tourists who are not staying...We managed to get a room at a promo price to experience this 5 star hotel… it’s really worth the experience… i feel the hotel can be a place of interest by itself even for tourists who are not staying here… The hotel is majestic… we were welcomed by the grand lobby… it is really very big… and the hotel staff are very friendly and informative… The room is also spacious, the toilet is huge with both shower area and bathtub… the balcony is jaw-dropping big for a reason… the room is well maintained despite the hotel’s long history… I am glad that there is a water dispenser at our level so that we need not boil any water… There is shuttle buses that drives occupants to the sauna and swimming pool as the place is really big… Maybe the swimming pool facilities need some maintenance… as one of the shower near the pool was spoilt… We have to rely on the hotel shuttle to reach the MRT…. the shuttle buses are quite frequent… We choose to experience the breakfast which has a very nice spread…Show More

Lobby was indeed grand (live piano music was a beautiful addition). Hotel shuttle to and from Yuanshan train station was very convenient. Room was nice - however recommend stocking room with more clothes hangars, plates, silverware. Standard pillows were uncomfortable - good thing I saw the pillow menu (charcoal pillow was much better). Recommend separate shampoo and conditioner (not combined). Underground tour was not that enjoyable because tour guide spoke in Mandarin - recommend offering 2 tours (Mandarin and English). Swimming pool and gym required taking a shuttle so we didnt get to see that part of the hotel unfortunately. Overall all hotel were friendly and welcoming (except the mean lady working as barista in afternoon of July 29, 2025). Hope to stay at Grand Hotel next time we are in Taipei!Show More

However, we wanted to see this impressive hotel and booked an afternoon tea in their Garden Cafe. The price is a good deal at US$20 per person for the tea package without alcohol. The sweets include mocha mini cake and lotus seed mini-roll. The savory items include typical sandwiches and salmon asparagus sandwiches. This high tea is a fusion of local favorites. The tea selection is huge, ranging from English teas to Chinese tea and Japanese rice tea. A glass of complimentary lotus drink is included, the waitress was wonderful and offered each of us a choice of sweet or savory to refill, which was a bonus. Even though we went on a rainy day, there were plenty of light and greenery to enjoy while chatting with friends and admiring the beauty of their ceiling.Show More
