The location has sweeping views of Mount Etna and the sea. The gardens are immaculate, the atmosphere is serene, and an old world charm combined with modern luxury makes this hotel something very special. The staff deserves the highest praise. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive service at breakfast and dinner, we consistently felt looked after with genuine care. The concierge was very helpful with our requests. Our room was elegant and comfortable, with thoughtful touches each day. That said, we did encounter one very disappointing issue. During our stay, a piece of jewelry went missing from our room. While this did not overshadow the beauty of the experience as a whole, it was concerning and is worth noting. We would recommend that guests remember to use the in-room safe for valuables, and hope the hotel takes steps to ensure this kind of incident does not recur. Despite this, the charm of the property, the outstanding service, and the unbeatable views make it one of the best places we have ever stayed.Show More

We booked this hotel month in advance. Then one month before we received an email saying they sold out the hotel and were telling us we had to stay at a different property for two nights and then this...We booked this hotel month in advance. Then one month before we received an email saying they sold out the hotel and were telling us we had to stay at a different property for two nights and then this hotel for two nights. They offered us no compensation. After much back-and-forth, we got them to give us two free dinners, and upgrades to our rooms . They were very apologetic once we arrived, which I appreciated, but it caused us to lose at least a half day of our vacation having to pack up and unpack in a second location. Also, I did not find them helpful when I was planning excursions because they have a set list of what they offer - each of which includes getting a separate driver and guide and thereby costing thousands of dollars per excursion. I ended up arranging my own excursions through get your guide. Our trip to mountb etna was fantastic and and was with a guide who also drove us, and is used by the four seasons, but Timeo is too inflexible to consider this type of option.Show More

The rooms ar...Our stay was wonderful from when we first stepped on the property to the moment when we left. The property is beautiful with an amazing view, scenic grounds and excellent common spaces. The rooms are fairly nice. They have lots of character, plenty of storage (which many hotels don’t have nowadays) and nice bathrooms though the junior suites are much nicer than the deluxe rooms. A minor refresh might be of benefit. The pool is great- heated with plenty of chairs, responsive attendants and wonderful views. It is fairly easy to get to the beach (worth doing at least once) at their sister property which is a nice change of pace. Breakfast is great. Though there are plenty of items available at the buffet (including pastries that look like they are from a patisserie), they make many items to order. Dinner at both restaurants (Otto Gelang and Timeo) was excellent (tho at one point the staff at Timeo seemed a little overwhelmed- a minor hiccup). Additionally, during the stay, there are always little treats peppered throughout the day which are nice surprises. What really sets the hotel apart and why we are eager to return, however, is the service. Almost every member of the staff that you encounter makes a point of making sure that your needs are met and that you feel well taken care of- from the porters, front desk, concierge to the pool attendants. Everyone knows your name by the second day. When we forgot something in the car from the airport, the staff went out of their way to make sure we got it back quickly. When our plans at our next destination changed, they called to rearrange the reservations we had made. All in all the service was basically flawless and the reason why we already making plans for a return visit.Show More

The property location was second to none, and the envy of the thousands of tourists passing by the luxurious front gate and vine covered portico. The staff anticipated every need and request and attended immediately to any comment or request. Food was exceptional thanks no doubt to the Michelin rated chef. Appointments in the rooms were second to none. The staff, from the valet to the front desk, to the waiters, to housekeeping, and the managers all made us feel welcome and like family. They greet you with your name and recall any inquiries about seeing a sight, or stores you might visit. The history and pedigree of the Grand Timeo added to the ambience and special atmosphere of this unique treasure. Put it on your bucket list!!! Will be viewing all Belmond properties before booking any other hotel. Words cannot express our pleasure and satisfaction. Show More
