At the end of an eleven night stay at the Agua Azul in Benidorm. It has rained a lot and we had storm Alice while we were here so we were unlucky with the weather. The hotel is at the back of the o... At the end of an eleven night stay at the Agua Azul in Benidorm. It has rained a lot and we had storm Alice while we were here so we were unlucky with the weather. The hotel is at the back of the old town where you have a 8 minute walk to either beach or the castle. Both beaches have a long promenade and great sandy beaches. The new Benidorm has the strip which is reasonably quiet this time of year but still busier than the old side. The tram which takes you to many places cheaply is a 20 minute walk up a hill and 30 minutes from promenade. It is very cheap and easy to use. We visited Altea a lovely Spanish village with a lovely views and a nice church. We also went to Alicante 80 minute by tram but a lovely promenade and worth a visit. The hotel itself is very clean. If you don’t have a pool view, we didn’t, you overlook a park and the town hall which is quite ugly and you get no sun at all. So may be worth upgrading. The food is excellent best part of the holiday. Three meat and fish choices every day and food is kept hot. Worth waiting for the show cooking always one meat and one fish dish. There are hot and cold sweets the cold sweets were a bit samey. The drinks are all branded but only one beer Amstel unless you wanted to pay a bit extra for San Miguel Corona or Guinness. Special mention for Irene in the restaurant always friendly and chatty. The door key as part of the all inclusive band is genius and should be adopted by other hotels. The bedrooms are fine if unusual with the glass panel you walk into and the glass toilet door.The beds are large and very comfy. Reasonable storage space but a lack of drawers. Shower a bit weak but we were on 6th and top floor. They are plastic glasses in the bedroom that crack all the time hotel should supply glass ones. The sunbeds are a major concern, you can get a ticket for the opening at 9 am or just take a chance. Due to two high rise buildings and the low sun the pool is only in full sun late afternoon so you will be in the shade for a few hours everyday. There are not enough sunbeds round the pool even out of season but there are sunbeds elsewhere to use but have even less sun. The music round the pool varies and can sometimes be too loud to sleep or read. The daytime entertainment was poor, line dancing at 5, very few participants then a game at 6 one or two took part as most had left the pool by this time. Daytime entertainment should be daytime not evenings so more can take part, Paula tries hard but the timing is wrong. Evening entertainment is mixed the game show can go on and on again Paula tries hard but a bit dull. The entertainment afterwards varies, the dancers and acrobats you cannot see as the stage is too low to the musicians who vary from brilliant to rubbish. Paulo Bloom and Fenix are fantastic the rest mediocre to rubbish. The sound system seems to vary depending if the act knows how to use it but if sitting at the back can be a problem. All staff are very friendly and hard working while reception will always help to satisfy any problems. The pool situation, daytime entertainment means we would never return to this hotel. Not over keen on the resort can be very busy in the old town at night and too many high rise buildings limiting the sun unless your hotel has a roof top pool. Well what can I say, we stayed here last year & it was absolutely AMAZING, this year 2 September 20th 2025 for 2 weeks was a big eye opener, God knows where they found the dj George from ( he obviousl...Well what can I say, we stayed here last year & it was absolutely AMAZING, this year 2 September 20th 2025 for 2 weeks was a big eye opener, God knows where they found the dj George from ( he obviously must have been related to someone at the hotel) he was SO rude, turning lights off bang on 12am even though bar was open until the same time so if you had a drink you either sat in the dark or put your torch on your phone to get out the entertainment room safely, NOT good when we had our Son in a wheelchair, when we approached the Dj he was rude arrogant & said he couldn't understand English even though he told us in ENGLISH to go to bed, we are at an adults only hotel and do not appreciate being told when to go to bed, we had 2 nights of no sleep due to being told by a letter put in our room that water would be turned off at 12am until 6am ( so couldn't flush toilet 😉 but what wasn't in the letter was the really loud grinding banging & drilling we had to put up with for 2 nights, our Autistic Son was petrified & was banging his head & hitting himself with fright i ended up having to sit by his bed trying to console him, I went to reception in the early hours to ask why we were not told about the noise & David was very apologetic & said he would ask the workers to be quieter but it didn't stop the noise for 2 nights. Paper cups in room this year not crockery like last year no complimentary soaps shower caps, combs like last year ( they've really cut back saying its a 4* hotel) staff were run off their feet even Pillar the manageress was in the restaurant helping out (says it all) had to wait about for glasses & food to be replenished, I felt so sorry for the staff as they tried to be happy but clearly we're not. There was a notice in the lift to say the snack bar would close on the 5th October due to season finishing but it was closed on the 3rd of October due to lack of staff & back open on the 4th being run by a rude guy who clearly didn't want to be there ( nothing like the little Chinese man sorry didn't get his name but he was brilliant & so lovely) when we reported this to the jet 2 rep she said it was due to the end of season until I said no it wasn't as there was a notice in the lift saying closed on the 5th , she couldn't answer that but said she would look into it. I will say the maids were amazing clean rooms & towels every day. We were booked to come back on the 27th December 2025 for 10 nights but have now changed hotels. Such a shame compared to last year. My wife and I went for a week 17/06/2025-24/06/2025 and booked it because I saw it reviewed on YouTube by the Benidorm Enthusiast. I am happy to say this was a bit of luck on my part. The hotel is in a central location very near to the old town and is spotlessly clean. The staff are very efficient and pleasant. I booked a superior room (007). These rooms are all on the reception ground level. This room has all you need, TV, fridge, kettle with tea etc and a free safe deposit box. The spacious balcony has a table, two chairs and two sun loungers and gets the sun from 8am to 4pm. The food was varied and hot. Well presented and the restaurant tables well spaced. One major flaw was no air conditioning. That needs to be sorted. We were all inclusive. The wristband also operated the room door lock so no keys to lose. When AI the drinks are included but at meal times the water seems to be available in the restaurant only at breakfast. It is a machine dispensing ice cold water but at lunch and dinner no water available in the restaurant. You might have to queue at the bar to get what is then freely given. I would suggest the hotel make water available for the 3 meals of the day. In Room 007 the wifi was very poor because it was extremely weak (0.8Mbps down -0.28Mbps up) but in the communal area downstairs next to the bar it was very strong (288Mbps down- 202 up) I spoke to the girl on reception who said she would pass it on but it never improved in the week. There are numerous charging points just outside reception to park & charge mobility scooter. It takes about 6 scooters side by side. We booked a "deluxe" scooter (never saw the difference between it and the standard one already at the hotel) for 120 euros +14 euros for insurance from Amigo24 who deliver to the hotel and the hotel booked if for us so all I had to do was pay the Amigo rep on arrival and hand over 20 euro cash deposit, which I got back later. The hotel is adult only and the age average at the time of our stay was late 60's so not a young person's place but they are more likely booking in the new town. So all was fine and I would recommend this hotel and will likely book there againShow More

We picked this hotel because we had to change hotels so I spotted the Agua and when I read it reviews it looked just what we wanted, with guests saying that the food was excellent, well unfortunately the food is not excellent by any means of the imagination. The breakfast was fine well you can’t get bacon and eggs wrong can you but that where it ends unfortunately the lunch and dinner options were not great in fact one evening when we went in the star of the show was Tripe but not the type of tripe that my old mum used to serve my dad this offering was brown. I think that will do with the restaurant. The entertainment was on bad with a couple of very good turns and a few not so good. The accommodation we were in room 113 which was pleasant enough looking over to the hotel Bristol, it had a good size balcony with 2 chairs and a small table, the A/C and safe were free which surprised me and the shower was excellent, the W.C. takes a bit of getting used to as it a blue frosted glass sliding door. One more thing I noticed was not too happy about was in the bedroom they have a glass screen between the bed and a wash hand basin which you have to slide by if you need to go to the loo it’s fine in the daytime but In the middle of the night not so good as I walked into it a few times. The staff were very nice especially the girls on reception they were lovely, the bar staff not so good, with it being a A/I hotel one of the nights there was 2 guests got so drunk they were falling down at the bar, now that is not on! Ok it’s an adults only hotel but the bar staff should not have given them that amount of alcohol. Would I return sadly I don’t think so as I’m sure there is better hotels in Benidorm that costs less than the Hotel Agua AzulShow More
