Our experience at the Huntingdon Hotel was appalling from start to finish. Upon check-in, we discovered a 3x4 inch blood stain on the bedding, right beside the pillow. It was disgusting and absolutely...Our experience at the Huntingdon Hotel was appalling from start to finish. Upon check-in, we discovered a 3x4 inch blood stain on the bedding, right beside the pillow. It was disgusting and absolutely unacceptable. While the sheets were replaced promptly, that’s where any sense of professionalism ended. Instead of taking responsibility, the General Manager chose to minimize and distort what happened. What was clearly a visible and large, unhygienic stain was later referred to as a “small mark,” and our account of the unprofessional handling of it, witnessed by three people, was dismissed as untrue. Including the two men who were sent to change the beds using their key card to enter our room without knocking or announcement. That kind of gaslighting and dishonesty has no place in hospitality. We were also told we’d receive a 20% compensation, which of course, never arrived. To make matters worse, another member of management informed us that “our expectations”may not align with the hotel’s standards and we should seek other accommodation in the future. As if wanting clean, blood-free bedding were an unreasonable request. That comment was insulting and speaks volumes about how this hotel treats its guests. If your “expectations” include clean, sanitary bedding and honest communication when something goes wrong, look elsewhere. The Huntingdon Hotel has made it abundantly clear that guest comfort, integrity, honesty and basic decency are not part of their standard.Show More

The room was clean, though the building itself is quite old and hasn’t been painted recently, which made it look less clean than it actually was. Breakfast was standard — nothing special, but decent. I appreciated that the staff were attentive and kept the area very clean throughout service. However, the constant reminders and requests for tips were a bit annoying. Two days before our stay in Oct, our reservation could not be found. After 48 hours of calls and e-mails, we learned we were moved from the Pendray to sister property Huntingdon, as the Pendray was fully booked for a wedding. We received no notification of this bait-and-switch, due to booking through a 3rd party (ID90). We complained, so the mgr upgraded us to a Loft Suite with harbor view, and one breakfast at the Pendray. Liked: Location; bathroom upgrades; green certification. Disliked: Smell (mold or mildew?). Bathroom downstairs, sleeping room upstairs - inconvenient when clothing is up, toiletries are down, inevitably you are on one level, but something you need is on the other level. Lack of Smart TV; had to connect our own HDMI cable to watch Netflix off our laptop. Lack of plugs (or they are under a table or console); no USB ports. Noise when neighboring rooms take a shower. Complete and utter lack of charm. Average and crowded buffet breakfast. It is an aging property which considers itself a resort because they opened a Spa.Show More
