Reading lots of previous reviews there are common themes, but the hotel does not appear to have acted on many of the criticisms. The hotel responses are either AI generated, or whoever is responding sounds very robotic rather than genuine. Many negative reviews refer to the design of the hotel and the responses from the hotel are very much ‘that’s the way it is, sorry you didn’t like it’. The responses just repeat the good points made and apologise for the bad points - very AI sounding. The good points are the staff who are fantastic. Everyone very helpful. In fact somewhat OTT at times - do we really need up to 3 people on the front door saying have a great day and then welcoming you back - after. a 5 min trip to the shop outside? The room was spotlessly clean. There are quite a few negatives for any regular IHG premium members. This is not a 5 star hotel and should never be in the same ’luxury range’ as Intercontinental or Regent. The lobby is very small. They have a bizarre concept of using this as a ‘living room’ like a house. It just does not work. There is a fantasy expectation that all of the residents will meet and mingle like housemates. In reality it is small and cramped. There should be a proper premium lounge like other proper 5 star IHG brands. Please note the room design which is bizarre to say the least. The hotel makes a point of being ‘pet friendly’. Make no mistake, it’s a pet hotel. On entering the room you walk straight into a tiled bathroom/shower area. Yes, not just walking past but right into the bathroom, shower area. Most bizarre. It looks like this is for the benefit of dirty pets. There is no other sensible reason. Even more bizarre, someone somewhere thought it was a great idea to make the toilet and shower doors see through directly from the main room. Some rooms even have a single sliding door which can be used EITHER by the shower or toilet but not both. We had to have a privacy screen installed to get round this design fault. Thanks to the hotel for doing this but should be unnecessary to correct design faults. In previous reviews the hotel response has been to say this is Taiwanese style -come on, get real, just make toilets and showers private! The bedroom floors are covered with bizarre hard rubbery matting which is uncomfortable to the bare feet and again no doubt for the benefit of pets, not to mention cleaning up after them. We were supposedly in a pet free room but still had these weird features. The elevators are very very very dark, for no obvious reason except some form of artistic attempt. Breakfast is limited to a fixed menu which feels restrictive and nothing like other 5 star IHG hotels. We came up the elevator with a yapping dog in a pushchair. Is that how you want to have a nice quiet breakfast? Expect to see pets! This could be such a good place but the ‘homely’ and ‘pet friendly’ concept is weird to the point of being slightly creepy. The concept does not work and this should not be in the same 5 Star league as other IHG hotels. We will not come again. If you like the Intercontinental and Regent 5 star IHG hotels the you will be disappointed here. We have since moved to Intercontinental Kaohsiung which is fantastic and worlds apart from the Kimpton Da An. We had no preconceived ideas about Kimpton Da An, so this is a straightforward honest review. It’s just weird,I hope that I don’t get the same AI style response as everyone else.Show More

Taxi driver was unsure of location and I had taken screen shots of location which I was glad for. Welcome drink and efficient check in. Staff fried ly and explained hotel facilities and surrounding recommendations for coffee etc. given map with suggested walking routes and shopping areas surrounding the hotel. This was greatly appreciated as the area has great restaurants and shopping. Room was very spacious and well designed. Small entry area with seat. Large bathroom area with separate shower and toilet. Room had coffee and read station. Mini fridge and small table. Large comfortable bed and good amount of hanging and storage for baggage etc. welcome fruit and note in room was a nice touch. Hotel had little snacks for breakfast lunch in the lobby with good coffee and juice. At dinner there was free happy hour with nibbles and wine. Really enjoyable and great way to chat to other guests. Metro station 50meters from hotel which made the location extremely central for visiting the city. Staff were all very friendly, approachable and gave great recommendations Would stay again.Show More

The location is very central, close to the Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station where the blue and brown lines cross, so it's easy to travel both north/south and...We loved our stay and will definitely be back! The location is very central, close to the Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station where the blue and brown lines cross, so it's easy to travel both north/south and east/west in Taipei. If you happen to come into Songshan airport like we did, you'll be just a few stops away. As other reviews have mentioned, be aware there are a few "quirks" to the rooms, likely because it is a pet-friendly hotel. You enter the room directly into the tiled bathroom (there is a bench area right next to the door to immediately take off shoes and switch to slippers) and then walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom area, which has a floor that is kind of like a rubberized mat. So it's a bit weird as a human guest :) but can imagine it makes life easier if you have a dog with you. As for amenities, we enjoyed the daily happy hours, which had much nicer appetizers and desserts than we were expecting. Not your usual wine and cheese hour. The best part of our stay was the staff who provided top notch service with lots of little special touches.Show More

Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood, just one block from both the Blue and Brown MRT lines, making it incredibly convenient. Hotel itself has a boutique, modern feel. Has stylish furnishings, inviting common areas, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Free coffee and snacks throughout the day, as well as evening social hour, Bed was extremely comfortable, and the room design felt both contemporary and cozy. When we first checked in, our initial room unfortunately had a lingering smoke smell from a previous guest. However, this turned into an example of outstanding service. Pei Wu, the Assistant Front Office Manager, took care of the situation with professionalism and kindness. She not only switched us to a new room but also upgraded us and surprised us with a cake. Overall, Kimpton Da An combines exceptional service, great amenities, and a perfect location. We would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Taipei!Show More
