Everything about the hotel was perfect and deserving of a five star rating. From the doormen opening the doors and greeting you, to reception, the rooms, housekeeping, it was 5 star service.(other so called 5 star hotels on this same trip did not pass the test)
We had their deluxe king room. It was roomy and well laid out with plenty of room to stretch out and put our luggage on the floor (as we were only there 3 nights, we tend to live out of the suitcase rather than unpack) and not bump into everything. The bed was very comfortable.
The room had a good size desk, plenty of plugs placed were you would need them (except the nightstand on the right hand side of the bed had no plugs) , and good wifi
The safe is inside one of the nightstand drawers (at first I could not find it) and big enough for your laptop and everything else you might want to store)
Bathroom was good size with plenty of room for both of us to lay out our stuff. Shower area was very large and the water was good (hot and strong).
The location is also superb. The hotel is close to one of the subway stations (about a 5 min walk). There are also a nice bakery across the street (we opted not to partake in the hotel buffet) as well as a 7-11.
All of the staff we encountered were terrific , friendly and helpful. The doormen ,concierge, front desk, the lobby attendants …not sure their title but they seemed to be watching over everything. One of these fellows standing in the lobby and helping people was particularly professional with us on the day we left. Our flight was in the evening, so we had stored our luggage at the hotel and went out and about for a few hours. After we got back, we were able to use the gym to shower and change. We were waiting for our driver, I wanted to get some water or a soda to drink, as it was pretty hot out the days we were in Taipei.
I went to the bar to get a soda, and was told there was a minimum, per person, which amount was ludicrous for a coke (I think it would have cost me $15-20…if my wife did not join me). The little shop in the lobby did not have cold drinks (this is something they should fix btw) and I could not find anywhere else at the hotel to get something and did not want to run out to the 7-11 across the street etc to get one. I asked one of the attendants standing the lobby if there was somewhere I could get a bottle of water or something…and he said, “of course, just a minute”. He came back with two cold bottles of water. For free. When our driver arrived, this same fellow grabbed a couple more for us for the road! Now that was 5 star service.
The pictures on their website accurately reflect the hotel and rooms.
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel when in Taipei. I will the next time we are there.Show More
