Although, even 5 star hotels have some negative reviews. We stayed in a 1 bedroom king suite. Nice size, comfortable bed, nice sofa and sitting area. However, Hank's was outside our window, and one night there was loading noise at midnight. Other nights were ok. Nice size bathroom, but the shower seemed slippery, and there was no grab bar. My wife did not feel safe shampooing her hair. 1 bedroom suite directly across from the elevator and coffee maker, so there was some noise from other guests. The hallways are long, so I think it's better to be close the elevator than walk to the end of the hall. The coffee maker on every floor and filtered water as well were nice things to have. Another complaint, is that for 3 days, there was at least a 10 wait to even be seated for breakfast, despite there being several open tables and booths. Apparently, 2 staff decided to take the weekend off. As a result, we ate around the corner at Market Street. The pancakes are great, but not my top choice, but at least their staff showed up for work, so we were able sit at a table right away, in fact, on the 2nd day they even opened a few minutes early, when they saw us standing outside. That was for 2 breakfasts. The 3rd day, we took an Uber to The Dewberry Hotel, a 5 star hotel. No reservations, seated immediately, great breakfast. Also, I found the staff there more engaging than anyone I encountered at Emeline. Emeline is next to the Charleston Market, and very close to the carriage ride tours. It's nice as a base for exploring the historic district. Not nice enough for me to stay here again.Show More

I was here for a short time for a work trip and I would go back in a heartbeat - the amenities (coffee machine, water and snacks on every floor), beautiful rooms (mine had a record player, steamer, small touches that really make it nice), immaculate, very tasty food, great, friendly service, and a great location. The team is doing a great job! The only issue I had came with a room charge where my credit card didnt go through, so if you are a traveller, especially for work, I would recommend making sure you get a receipt when you pay at the front desk. Their computer system is just a bit slow so it may not take your card right away. The reason I am writing a review is because of the help Kovy (sorry if spelling is wrong!) gave me. When my room charge did not go through, the phone at the front desk would disconnect me every time I was put on hold. I tried calling over multiple days and by the 6th call I was growing desperate - until I spoke to Kovy. Kovy truly cared about my issue and she made sure she stayed on the phone with me until she did everything she could to ensure I could get it taken care of. She is friendly, competent, and I would have enough trust to revist the hotel because of people like her. Thank you Kovy!Show More

We were told check in was at 3PM, but our room was NOT ready until close to 4 which made us rush to our next reservation, Sunset Sail at 4PM which was very stressful. For some reason, we were upgraded to a suite which was lovely. The bathroom was beautiful with superb amenities and shower, however, the lighting for putting on make up was NOT bright enough. We were told by desk clerk and the card on our door that check out was 12PM, but when we went to get into our room at 11:45 our key didn't work. We were then told that check out was 11. I was so annoyed that I asked for a reduction of our fee which eventually we were given. Tania, front desk, was cordial and professional, but if I hadn't been pursuant, I wouldn't have gotten the reduction of our fee. The front desk was not accommodating as far as being on time with check in/out. Our suite 276 while being lovely was on the street side and very noisy on a Sat night and early Sunday morning the garbage truck was disturbing our sleep. The mattress and pillows were too soft for my comfort. While the hotel is upscale, the lobby is very noisy due to the bar/restaurant being very popular with parties,Show More

This hotel has the best location in downtown. We literally walked everywhere for four days and only drove out to the plantation for a visit. We literally walked everywhere for four days and only drove out to the plantation for a visit. We parked in the city parking lot across the street for $40 per night (I think valet was $60)……. The hotel is beautiful and charming. There is sooooo much to visit and do in the city. Loved the welcome cocktail and on every floor by the elevator was complimentary Nespresso coffee, Teas, cold water 24/7 and well as fresh fruit daily. There is a cute, vey popular coffee shop in the lobby too for an easy breakfast. They even had a couple of GF options I appreciated. The hotel bar was a lively fun scene for a pre dinner or post dinner cocktail. The staff were very knowledgeable and super friendly. Only ate an early breakfast at the restaurant but my husband said they were the hugest, freshest most delicious pancakes he had ever tasted and the homemade made jam was amazing! Not expensive. Service was great too. Dinner always seemed busy there. Wish we had tried it but there are so many first class restaurants to explore in Charleston just make sure you have reservations well in advance! We did have an issue with housekeeping, but that was addressed by management.Show More
