There isn't much within walking distance outside - there is the hotel's restaurant on the top floor and the hotel's small shop downstairs. Plenty of free parking outside the hotel.
The building is interesting: It's a tall 14-story building shaped like a corn - round with 2 elevators in the middle and the rooms around in a circle. In the best American tradition, there is no 13th floor :) The view from the restaurant on the top floor (and actually from all the top floors) is quite amazing. Even though it said breakfast was included, they still asked for a "tip" every morning, even when just using the buffet (from which the juices and coffee disappeared in order to be "served"). Also, no water bottles were delivered to the room like in some other hotels.
The room was average in size and the bed was very comfortable, though a bit high. Lots of storage area. There was a small (quiet) fridge, no microwave. There was also a little "night light" which is nice to have. We turned off the air conditioner during the night, so I can't tell much about it. The shower curtain was terrible, so the floor always turned into a puddle after showering. The toilet flushed a little by itself every few minutes, and the door into this area was somewhat noisy and difficult to open/close. At one point we killed a large cockroach (or was it a water bug?) crossing the floor.
The free shuttle into downtown and back (every hour) was an excellent surprise!
Altogether, an interesting choice for staying in Charleston.Show More
