My wife and daughter were visiting Charleston for a dance competition and had a reservation at the hotel. Once checked in, they decided that due to the uncleanliness of the room(they actually saw a r...My wife and daughter were visiting Charleston for a dance competition and had a reservation at the hotel. Once checked in, they decided that due to the uncleanliness of the room(they actually saw a roach on the floor) and smell, that they would just drive back home, 3 hours away. The sad thing is that the hotel said they would only refund half of the room. My girls didn’t even unpack the car the room was that bad. This was 9/27/25. Over a week later the hotel hasn’t refunded anything and we are still being charged for the nights stay. They won’t even talk with my wife and I. We have had to get the credit card company involved to try and get something refunded. They wanted to stay, but due to the uncleanliness of the room, they decided to drive home. We are being charged due to them not having higher standards for the cleanliness of their rooms. Sad day for a “former” Wingate by Wyndham fan.Show More

I didn't arrive until about 10:30 & the check in process was great but upon opening the door of my room I was very surprised at the size of the room. It was so small. it was the last room on the 3rd floor & the receptionist said it was first come first serve & they already had a fully booked hotel so they were not able to move me to another room. I booked the room weeks ago so I don't feel it was fair that I got what I felt like was the LAST ROOM available. The receptionist (who truly was so sweet) said she DID understand me being upset about the size of the room. My boyfriend is 6'4 so the size of the room & bed almost seemed like a joke. I was terribly embarrassed. The only thing good about our stay was your receptionist.Show More

Although I didn't have the chance to try the breakfast, I have to give a shout-out to one of the front desk staff members. He was not only incredibly friendly and accommodating but also bore a striking resemblance to a former NFL player! Who knew hotel staff could double as sports stars? Humor aside, his dedication to making my stay comfortable did not go unnoticed. I would happily recommend [Hotel Name] to my friends and family, with an extra endorsement for the excellent service provided by the towering, NFL-lookalike front desk attendant.
