Great location, historical building with a colonial feel. In the heart of all the buzz. You can go around, come back to rest and change, and go out again. Very convenient. We stayed in a room with city view. Not bad at all. Some reviews mention construction noise. We stayed in the Diamond wing and had no issues. Kettle and coffee maker with pods in the room, regularly refreshed with complimentary bottled water. Right on the beach. Had a four-course tasting menu dinner at the Beachhouse. It was simply superb. I highly recommend it. Free activities like yoga, lei making, ukulele lessons, historical tour of the hotel etc with sister hotels. Just check the schedules and register.

10/10 Amazing location, beautiful historical hotel
This iconic hotel is right on Waikiki Beach. It is one of the oldest hotels and it has been renovated. The rooms were comfortable and I had an amazing ocean beachfront room. They provided robes and a safe, and a refrigerator. The staff was exceptionally accommodating. They had a beach bar where we had cocktails and you could order food. They had a lovely pool with bar and food service. The smell of plumeria every time you got in and out of the elevator was amazing. There were photos and historical information about the hotel and the area which I really loved. There were many places to just sit and hang out and people watch.

10/10 Hawaii’s finest hotel and team!
Phenomenal property. Exceptional execution by all team members from valet, to bell hop, cultural ambassador, front desk staff, food and beverage team, breakfast restaurant, pool bar, pool staff, housekeeping, security, maintenance, general manager, EVERYONE!
Special kudos to the ownership group, Kyo-ya hotels, for maintaining and investing in this historical gem on Waikiki.
We’ve been coming here for almost 12 years now and it’s truly one of our favorite hotels in the world. There is not enough space in this review to write all of the wonderful names of the team members who have made this property our home away from home. We know who you are and I’m quite sure you know who this is! :)

4/10 Will stay elsewhere next time
Great historical hotel in a great location, unfortunately the noise in the room at night was unacceptable due to loud music and crowds, The pool chairs around the pool were also the worst and most uncomfortable I have ever seen at any resort, that's if you could get one there did not seem to be any preference given to hotel guest's for tables at the beach bar either, my other issue is the hotel over charged our card on file by hundreds of dollars and when we checked out they said that should be refunded but it can take a while, that is unacceptable to take more money than we had even spent before we even checked out.

6/10 Original beach front hotel - book the newer tower rooms
Updated lobby. Good location. Still has a nice sandy beachfront which are rapidly disappearing at the other Waikiki beach front hotels. Avoid the Banyan wing rooms in the original portion of the hotel and only book the Tower rooms which are newer and have balconies. Banyan wing rooms are smallish, tiny postage stamp bathrooms and no balconies. Pool area needs updating and new lounge chairs. Bed was very comfortable and wifi and tv very good.

Proximity to beach. Competent friendly staff. Very helpful. Security staff was reassuring. Close to downtown activities. Food was good but very expensive.

10/10 Practically perfect stay.
I really appreciate the vibe at the hotel. It was warm and welcoming and excellent at the same time. For example, there was no dress code, which made it easy to transition from the beach back to the room. We didn't need to stress about that. The service was good from beginning to end. All of the food and drinks were good and our room was really super. I loved the beach view. We left super happy.

Would not go back. The walls are paper thin. When my neighbors alarm went off in the morning next door it woke me up. No pool chairs because they let people leave towels all day and no beach chairs to rent because there are very few. They charge both a resort fee and a valet fee daily which are over $100 extra total daily. Not worth it. Moved part way through trip

Huge thanks to Evan the general cashier at the pool snack bar for going above and beyond to track down a water bottle that was on display in the hotel but unavailable in the gift shop! You made our friend’s day! Hotel mgr please recognize this young man for his service!

5/10 Beautiful place but a little disappointing Probably our 4th time there over 40 years and it has lost its “fairness”
It’s a very expensive stay. Once booked we heard about the works taking place. The extra costs for facilities are under the circumstances excessive.

1/10 Very disappointing.
Location is good but this property is in need of a desperate update. Rooms are old, smelly and tired. Carpets are filthy dirty and look like they’ve been there forever. Definitely not with the money and to top it off you couldn’t even get fresh air into the rooms as all balcony doors are locked due to building happening.

10/10 Wonderful property, convenient location, amazing staff!
Location was central to everything in Waikiki. Very walkable. Beach access just steps from pool. The staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. The property was very clean and beautiful. I stayed in the historic section of the hotel and enjoyed the history. I also enjoyed the activities provided by the hotel - the Leo making was great! I really enjoyed dinner at the Beach House (Veranda). The Chef’s tasting menu was a fabulous experience and the service amazing. The best meal we’ve ever had in Honolulu. I liked that the hotel caters more toward an adult crowd. If my kids were still small, I’d stay somewhere that actually caters to children and has plenty of activities for them. The eateries are not really kid friendly - especially the fine dining experience.

10/10 The Moana is enchanting!
The Moana was my mother's favorite hotel in Hawaii. She first stayed there in 1966, and every time she went. She used to sit on the lanai and listen to the Hawaiian music and watch surfers. My sister and I stayed with her about 8 times when she was older, so it feels like home to us. We love the old hotel and the history; we love the pool and the fact that the hotel is right on the beach. We love rooms with a beach view, but a view of the veranda and the banyan tree are wonderful too.

The hotel is beautiful and in an awesome location. Staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel was very clean and had good spaces for hanging out and relaxing. Food was also really good though a little pricey.
