I booked at least 9 months ago for a week. As I am a hold Hilton member I felt that the hotel would be good and up to Hilton standards. It certainly wasn’t and checked out after one night there. Good things 1 Staff are lovely 2 It’s quaint Bad things 1.It’s shabby feels and smells damp 2.The carpets in the rooms and hallways need replacing or deep cleaning they needed vacuuming 3. The rooms are very dark. Very few lamps. 4. They are noisy from the hospital close by 5. Thin walls. We could clearly hear the conversation from the next room. They weren’t talking particularly loudly. 6. The restaurant food is awful. 7. I was not treated like a gold member I was apparently upgraded but I don’t think so. 8. Car park is not free 9. Bathrooms are small and badly need updating. Old units and bath chipped. Toiletries not up to Hilton standard. 10.Show More

Our room was rather small. My only true complaint is that the bathroom was ridiculously small as in when my husband sat on the toilet his knees were 2-3” away from the bathtub. There is only enough room for one person at a time to get ready for the day. Also there is no counter space for toiletries due to it having a pedestal sink. If you look on the website you will not find pictures of the bathrooms. I did inquire with the front desk staff about changing to a room with a larger bathroom as we were there for a 6 night stay but I was told all of the bathrooms are small as it is an older hotel. A few days into our stay we had friends arrive, they had a much larger room and slightly larger bathroom on our floor and paid the same room rate. If you stay at this hotel I recommend asking to see the room or asking for one of their larger rooms.Show More

The staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Having the restaurant on site for breakfast was a big help, and we always saw it very busy in the evening with guests eating and drinking. The reception is grand with lovely fireplaces to warm up at. Bed was comfy and room was big enough for the 3 of us. I’m just over 6 foot tall and didn’t find the bathroom small, and the hotel has obviously taken into account peoples views, and pedestal storage was provided in the bathrooms with plenty of space.Show More
