First the positives. Staff were friendly and the newly renovated lobby and atrium areas are nice. The pool area is vast with plenty of seating and shade options, especially in November when the sun is lower and the building creates some decent shade areas in the afternoons. Great location, however during busy traffic times, getting around can get jammed up on the local roads due to congestion. Breakfast was good, although you really have to try hard to screw up a free basic breakfast.
My stay was fine. I really had no complaints. But I’ve stayed at some really nice Embassy Suites properties over the years and this just isn’t one of them.
The property is old. Yes, recently renovated and the renovations are noticed. But it’s a bit of lipstick on a pig situation. It’s just an older property with old design elements…now with a fresh coat of paint. The atrium rooms get very loud, but the bedrooms are in the back of the suite so most of the atrium noise doesn’t make it to the bedroom if you shut the door.
My room was a renovated room and overall I was disappointed. The renovations seemed “cheap” with low grade fixtures and appointments. Even my renovated room was a bit “beat up” with noticeable wear and tear on the furniture and room in general. It was almost like the designer thumbed through the Hilton catalogue and selected the cheapest options for all the furniture and appointments.
The property on the surface seemed really clean…it just didn’t “feel” clean; if that makes any sense. I’m not a fan of the hard room flooring that many hotels are transitioning too, this property included. It just feels cheap and dirty. Again, it wasn’t like there was trash and dirt all about…that part seemed very clean; it just didn’t feel clean…
My rate was less than $100 a night so you have to align your expectations with what you are paying. I’m very in tune with hotel rates in the LBV area and $100 a night is on the cheaper end of what you are going to be paying, so in the end, I really got what I paid for.
Overall a good stay. I have no complaints. But for $50-$75 more a night, there are way more options with a far better quality of an overall hotel experience. If you are fine with a $100 a night room, you will be fine staying here.show more
