We were not concerned about this, as we have stayed at this property several times over the past five years and were aware that renovations have been taking place for at least three of those years. On previous occasions, the work was minor — we could hear some activity and see a bit of dust, but it never caused any real inconvenience However, during this most recent stay, the situation was unacceptable. For three consecutive mornings, from around 8 a.m., there was intense drilling and hammering directly on the wall of our bedroom and the room next to ours. The noise was extremely loud and completely disrupted our stay. We complained to reception each morning, speaking with three different staff members on separate days, as well as the hotel manager. Each time, we were assured that the issue would be resolved, but nothing was done, and the drilling and hammering continued throughout our stay. This trip was meant to be a four-day break to celebrate my husband’s 87th birthday, and it was very disappointing to have the experience spoiled by such intrusive noise. While we understand that renovation work is sometimes necessary, it is entirely unreasonable to place guests in rooms immediately adjacent to active construction areas — particularly when management and multiple staff members are made aware of the issue and fail to act. The location is fantastic. Easy walk to the Queen Street Mall and the Botanical Gardens. Across the road from the Casino and bridge over to Southbank. The beds were very comfortable. We managed to secure a park having a small car. Tidy rooms, I did have a good sleep with the firmer mattress.Show More
