But customer service is the most important aspect of any hotel stay for ...The Stamford Plaza boasts spectacular views overlooking the Story Bridge and this was the highlight of our stay at this hotel. But customer service is the most important aspect of any hotel stay for my wife and I, and we felt standards in this area were not what we hoped or expected. Our greatest irritation was that there was not a room ready for us at the check in time. Twice we were sent away 'for 15 minutes' then eventually told they couldn't be sure when they'd have a room available. To soften the blow we were given 2 drinks vouchers. Upon trying to redeem them the bar staff went to lengths to tell us the limitations of these - effectively two small glasses of house beer. Thanks Stamford Plaza! The fact this was my 60th birthday as notified to you by my travel agent clearly either hadn't got through. Otherwise your gesture was somewhat timid. When I said to your reception staff that the wait for a room after a tiring flight was very poor some utterance of an upgrade was made but when eventually the room did become available no upgrade was apparent. There were other issues that were perhaps minor but collectively suggested to us that improvements are needed, for example: *The machine coffee at breakfast was at best lukewarm. I reported this but it was shrugged off by the staff member *Dirty crockery was left by another guest close to the entrance of our room (30th birthday icing on the plate will provide you some clue as to who). This remained as a welcome to our room through most of our 3 night stay. *The tops of the TV cabinet and wardrobe shelving were dusty. I discovered some clothes covered in dust from the shelf when I packed to leave. *Reception failing to ask if we'd enjoyed our stay during checkout. A great view yes, but not for us a great stay.Show More

In a great location on the river it’s been an easy choice for me in the past. I will look around in future mainly due to the reception staff who in no way made myself and 3 others of our group feel welcome. Slow check-in and not a smile in sight according to the others in our group who checked in before me. My staff member was a trainee who struggled and caused my check-in to take a lot longer than it should have with minor support from her fellow staff member. In contrast the Concierge Staff showed the way it should be, just so lovely and helpful. My room was not fully prepared with no towels or bathmat and shampoo bottle was missing from shower. The water from the self made coffee machine in the breakfast area is in no way hot enough for a decent cup of tea. The food quality was extremely poor, service was virtually nonexistent, and the rooms were old and noticeably dirty. There was drilling noise late at night and again early in the morning, making it impossible to rest. At breakfast, the chef at the egg station was dropping food— even cracked eggshells—on the floor, which raised serious concerns about hygiene. We were left without towels for 24 hours, and the room didn’t even include a replacement bottle of water. Housekeeping was equally inadequate: a juice spill on the desk remained untouched after cleaning, and no dusting or surface cleaning was done. The room also had a persistent bad smell, suggesting it wasn’t properly refreshed. To make matters worse, the air-conditioning control was broken, making it impossible to regulate the temperature. Overall, a very poor experience definitely not matchin the price level.Show More
