The location is also a plus with metro lines close by and varied dining options. We had palace rooms which were ok with comfortable king beds. Pillows poor quality and seen better days however. Not one power socket at table level and to get the kettle to reach you have to put it on the floor. Charging €1.50 for a nespresso pod after the first complimentary drink is ridiculous especially as they say it's 5 star (it's not). It sets the wrong tone and appears penny pinching. The bar doesn't open till 3 or 3.30 pm if you do want a drink either. It's a Sports bar and every table was booked for a local Derby last week in the evening. Hardly a benefit for guests staying there. Breakfast is not definitely not 5 star with zero table service. Coffee from a machine with powdered milk. It's OK but not what we expected. Go before 8.30 am or after 10am if you don't want to queue. To be fair they do warn you of the busy times at reception. The hotel is OK for a short break but don't expect high standards.Show More

Extremely helpful reception. Room spacious, with all facilities clean and well stocked. Breakfast was plentiful with continental and full English on offer. Comfortable surroundings particularly the novel Sports Bar. We were half board so enjoyed several relaxing evening meals. Staff across the hotel were very polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel. Brief walk into the centre. We tend to walk everywhere so the hills are not for the feint hearted. Watch out crossing a road as a green light for pedestrians still means nothing to Portuguese drivers!! Would certainly use this hotel again.Show More
