The staff on the whole are very pleasant a...6.4 “Appearance of 5 Star, reality of 3star ” Lets start with the positive. The Hotel is situated conveniently for the main attractions, all easily walkable. The staff on the whole are very pleasant and helpful, from the front door concierge to the very helpful young lady on reception. However that did not compensate for a poor experience. Sadly, the Hotel does not have sufficient facilities for the number of guests. There are only two restaurants, one which acts as the breakfast buffet and a dedicated one. The breakfast buffet is insufficiency large enough to cope with the numbers, in the morning trying to have breakfast. Once inside, the range was so disappointingly small for a 5 star hotel. It really was an incredibly limited breakfast selection. The staff were all pleasant but there is a real training need as they often “floated” about and were not attentive or aware of the customers. The dedicated restaurant was so disappointingly small. The menu consisted of 4 (FOUR!) main courses to choose from - that was it !! And one of them was veggie ! So a complete waste of time, if you didn’t like the choices on offer. The Dundee bar was shut on a Sunday - this is a 5 star Hotel close to the attractions and the 3rd choice to have a drink is shut on Sunday. Saying that it’s tucked in a corner of the Hotel and tiny with a very small space and atmosphere. My stay was marred by a problem I experienced first morning - as I had no hot water - the Hotel experienced a breakdown. I was contacted by Gustav the Guest services manger who apologised and offered a credit for some food and beverage to compensate. He was attentive and professional in our discussions and I was satisfied. Unfortunately when I came to check out the credit hadn’t been added and I had to go through a whole process at the front desk with the duty manager., explaining what happened. Again he was very polite- but there was no record of compensation; just the room fault. He kindly accepted my account and credited me but to be left hanging at checkout with people round me listening to me trying to prove that I had a credit on my account, was embarrassing and unnecessary, if he had done his job right. City centre Hotels will always be expensive but if it says 5 star you expect 5 star. Sadly this was 3 at best, in terms of facility and service but with some 1st class staff.Show More

The location is great, all within walking distance to the Darling Harbour, the new Barangaroo, Chinatown and Hyde Park. Must say i would consider coming back because of the location alone. Hotel itself is nice, room is spacious but don’t know why, have many small bugs and mosquitoes. WiFi is quick but again, don’t know why you have to connect again after a few hours. As a globalist member, I get access to the Regency Club, which is great to hang around as it has great views of the Darling Harbour. Staff are friendly especially Joanna. However Viktoria is very “surfaced” in terms of service. I sat near her counter at breakfast and she won’t actively serve you with the cutleries. After I collected food I have to ask her for them. During that time she was merely standing there and smiling. Other staff around the hotel seems friendly and efficient. Gym is nice but I’m surprised there is no pool, steam, sauna etc., given the price and they claiming it a 5-star property. My friend staying at the Pullman nearby, half the price, has a pool, sauna and jucuzzi.Show More

The location is good The staff were nice except for the buffet breakfast lady who checked us in The rooms are small and designed for 1-2 business people The bed and mattress were good, water pressure ...The location is good The staff were nice except for the buffet breakfast lady who checked us in The rooms are small and designed for 1-2 business people The bed and mattress were good, water pressure was good The internet connection truly lacked for a Hyatt band in CBD The buffet breakfast is not worth it, they gave us misleading information, the coffee is always lukeward to start with and the price is high for what it is The hotel charged us with a bunch of stuff we never used, we had to talk to them to take them off the list, and requested to amend the charge of the buffet breakfast, after 2 times of explaining and taking it to the manager, they still did not get it right and I had to call my bank to dispute the charge The hotel is close to grocery store which was a huge help, however it is a bit of walk to a meaninful metro station I may go back to this hotel if I go for business, but I might try to stay in a different one this timeShow More

I loved exploring the area and eating near the water. The staff at the front and bell desks were super friendly and helpful, and there were always smiles when I walked in and out. But the rooms, even in the tower, are worn and dated. They need deep cleaning, and I would suggest that the housekeepers look up at the vents and light fixtures, especially in the bathroom. Mine were filthy and my allergies noticed. Housekeeping wasn’t exactly friendly and seemed bothered when I took my trash to the cart and asked if it was ok to empty it in the bin. This Hyatt has a lot of opportunities to improve. You have lovely people but I wouldn’t return until there were updates and renovations.Show More
