We were celebrating our 25 year wedding anniversary and this was our first time in Venice. We pre arranged a water taxi with the hotel to collect us from the airport, it cost €160 but was so worth the cost, there were more costly options up to €600 euro but we were happy to walk 10 minutes from arrivals to where the water taxi docks. We were greeted by hotel staff at the other end of the 30 minute ride who took our bags and walked us 2 minutes to the hotel. There are no taxi or cars on the area so you will need to walk a little but everything is so close by.
Every single member of staff at this hotel made it such a memorable occasion for us and went out of their way to help us and guide us through the visit. We were upgraded to a Suite which was beyond what we expected, it made our time in our room even better. The room has a B&O speaker to connect to your phone which was a great add.
The food and drinks are immense, there is a Michelin star restaurant at the hotel but also a second restaurant where the food was sublime and at a reasonable cost compared to other restaurants across Venice.
If you love shopping, then this hotel is located in the most fashionable and upmarket designer street full of designer stores. You are 30 seconds from a gondola stand, water taxi or from a €2 gondola taxi (traghetto) to get to the other side of the canal.
Within 3 minutes you get to St Marks square with an array of stores and cafes. We sat and had drinks and afternoon tea (you must try this) at the Florian Cafe with a live Orchestra playing music and also our requests - this was a very memorable experience.
The Concierge at the hotel (Michael) was super helpful, we sat with him on the first day and he helped us plan our trip and everything we wanted to see whilst there. He also communicated with us on WhatsApp whilst we were away from the hotel and we were able to make bookings, change bookings and find new places to visit and concierge took care of everything. We were able to see so much whilst here with the help of the team at the hotel.
We had 2 amazing guys on the reception desk who looked after us (even helped me out of s sticky situation where I trapped by bag strap in the safe) and it was never too much. The rooms and facilities are super modern, great AC in the room but also if you want natural light and fresh air the rooms had huge windows that you can open too. The complimentary slippers were the nicest we have ever worn, really fluffy and padded and the robes were a superior quality too. The rooms are cleaned twice a day and unlike some other places, when we had the red button (engaged light) on the door, they never disturbed us or knocked to see if anyone was in the room.
There was a night when we fancied a burger and chips and the hotel booked us a great burger place called Ristopub which was casual, live music and a good atmosphere. We also had good steak and ribs at a place called Al Grill - you have to try this place, it was unbelievable. The hotel also booked us a table for lunch at Ristorante Do Forni, this was a very traditional place and service was a little slow but wow the flavour of that food was like nothing I have tasted before - we will write a separate review.
We would truly recommend this hotel to couples or families as it is a very special find, as a former Chamber of Commerce building it has a unique style and design. Very much a 5* worthy hotel, you have Dyson Hairdryers, straighteners and air wrap as well as a full stocked fridge, snack drawer, stationary area and crystal drinks cabinet.
Some things to be aware of: There is no gym at the hotel so if this is important then keep this in mind, but there is a lovely pool and spa area. The bar is not huge, but the hotel is not a massive chain with 1000s of guests so it was a good size. No waiting for tables at Breakfast, dinner or the bar and the breakfast was sublime, huge choice and very reasonable. So for a Breakfast rate included you will not leave hungry.
We are delighted that we could create our 25 year anniversary memories with the Nolinski in the beautiful Venice and shout out to our travel agent ‘Pillinger World Travel’ for locating this absolute gem for us.Show More
