When we were checking in I sa...The Sheraton was one of the original hotels built here in the early 1960s. My wife and I celebrated my birthday and our 32nd anniversary here in room 6404 Moana building. When we were checking in I said the most important thing to me is that we have a really good view of the ocean. We did pay for oceanfront but I felt I had to say it anyway. She said not to worry. The view didn't disappoint. Our room basically faced straight onto the ocean. We could see black rock to the left and the nightly ceremony as well as the little snorkeling area just to the right of it. We could see rays and turtles from our room. And since it faces directly west, the sunsets were amazing. The first night we slept with the sliding door open and just listened to the sound of the ocean. Heaven. These rooms are part of the original hotel. The hotel underwent a massive renovation in the 90s that expanded it. The one downside to being in these oceanfront buildings are they are very far from the (new) lobby. You have to take multiple elevators and walk quite a bit. Our room had plenty of space and a mini fridge and coffee maker. There was a microwave, but we didn't use it. The bathroom is large, but it could use some better ventilation. You generate so many wet towels when you're swimming all the time that it just gets very humid in the bathroom . We ate at most of the restaurants and overall the food was good not great. Everything is fresh. That's not the issue. It's just not served in an upscale manner. You're often using plastic utensils. Room service is very quick though. The beach is big and wide. It's not suffering the erosion that some of the resorts have experienced at the southern end of Kaanapali Beach. Another recommendation would be more rinsing stations as you come off the beach. There's only one and it has very little pressure and only a few heads on it. There's often a line. We liked being out on the point so to speak with our room. It felt much more secluded than I imagine other parts of the hotel must feel. You don't hear anything butT the ocean. As I said, heaven. Housekeeping service was also excellent. Oh, one more thing. I told them they desperately need to upgrade the phone system. It must be from the renovation in the 90s. I would def stay again. FYI there is some historic footage of the two first hotels in a documentary from 1964. Search "Ka'anapali, Maui in 1964" on YouTube. Hilarious footage of men in full ties and jackets at dinner and women watching a fashion show at the resort.Show More

Lots of great places to sit and enjoy the view and the staff was ALWAYS friendly and engaging. Pool water was the perfect temp. The management need to be flown to another Pacific ...Being a lifetime gold Marriott (previously SPG) member I have stayed at many Sheratons in my life and thoroughly enjoyed every stay until this time. The management need to be flown to another Pacific Island Sheraton, e.g: Fiji, to show how it should be done. All the staff were wonderful and friendly, always happy to assist! Double rooms were spacious and very clean with minimal coffee making equipment (no pod machines), no tea bags and no mini bar (fridge was in the room). Included daily breakfast was for 2 people per room, so if the kids joined us we had to pay for their breakfast. No barista service provided, even if you wanted to pay extra for a good cuppa. I was told I could go upstairs to the Barista and order and pay for a coffee if I wished. Only trouble was the Barista closed at 11am in the mornings. Restaurants were just okay, nothing to really rave about. Teppanyaki Dan's was enjoyable and fun, nice menu. Cliff Dive Grill isn't very aptly named. There was one non-veg grilled plate on the menu that didn't have carbs served up with it and you were provided with plastic cutlery and glassware. The Sheraton has a daily "resort" fee per room which covers you for all extra amenities ...... Just such a shame there weren't many extra amenities to enjoy. One had to pay for tents or cabanas to be around the pool out of the sun. There were a minimal number of umbrellas to provide shade. Such a shame. I was giving them the excuse that maybe they hadn't got past the terrible fires or CoVid19 but another person said she and hubby had stayed there in 2015 and also were not impressed.Show More

We originally in a Moana with a lanai which is ...We checked in on a Thursday and right away we were upgraded to a suite, I looked up the price of the room and it was double of what I originally booked. We originally in a Moana with a lanai which is in a really far part of the resort that I didn't know when I booked it so we were very happy with the upgrade to the ohana suite which is centrally located and has its own living room and a third Murphy bed which would be perfect for a family. The beach there is amazing, you do have to rent chairs and an umbrella but on the second day we were given chairs by a nice couple so we only had to rent an umbrella the rest of the time which is about $45 a day. I think we went in a shoulder season because the beach wasn't that busy but I could see it getting busy because it's such a good location and the snorkeling is beyond. We saw turtles which after a few days so you can turtles more common but also a deal and spotted eagle rays. The food was really good you just have to do your research on the restaurants beforehand, having a Starbucks on premise and being able to have a smaller breakfast did help save some money. You're also able to order food to the resort like order pizza so if you don't want to eat at the resort every meal you don't have to but the food especially at the cliff dive grill was really really good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the resort even though it was built in 1963, to be was up to par. Well hopefully be returning!Show More
