The lobby ...We had the pleasure of staying at the Sheraton Phila downtown, this past weekend. The place was bustling, our entire trip. I dig a city hotel that just has people coming and going non stop. The lobby has a two to three story glass ceiling and provides a great, welcoming vibe. Common areas and elevators were well appointed, clean and fresh. There was great lighting, everywhere which is really key. Our room was similarly well lit and well appointed. Everything worked - all lights, the remote control, the heat, shower didn't leak, etc. If you do any travelling, you know that this is more the exception than the rule anymore. Room was large and clean. Just great. The review would be 5 stars save for two things. The check in line at ~4p on Saturday the 11th was entirely too long. This was a staffing issue and not the front desk personnel. There were two team members who were fulfilling reservations expeditiously and professionally. There were just that many people checking in. This could easily have been planned for. Secondly, later in the evening, the lobby bar service was rather slow. Mind you, this seems typical in most hotel lobby bars. And again, seems to be a staffing issue. I counted two folks serving a full bar and many of the bar area tables were occupied. The above staffing based issues notwithstanding, it was a solid stay.Show More

The check-in was horrible with the front desk rep very aggressive with many conference attendees checking in. Nightly rate was around $300, so I was expecting a bit of upscales services. None of those were provided. So, this was off to a bad start. The room is ok but dust covered furniture, and house keeping did not provide amenities such as coffee pods, and soaps. The front desk was consistently grumpy. I called the guest services to ask where the business center is, and they provided false information: No thank you, or anything. They simply hanged up abruptly, saying "that's across the front desk". The floor staff were actually nice and helpful. I was there for a NAFSA regional conference, so probably they were told to help us in general. I will never return to this hotel as it was mundane, filthy, and services were undoubtedly one of the worst.Show More

Solid, reasonably-priced option with spacious clean rooms and only a short walking distance from all the CC attractions and public transportation while being in a clean (er), quieter area. Coming to Philly several times a year for many years I’ve stayed at quite a few different hotels around the CC area and this one is probably in my top 3 preferred choices. Can’t say anything about the F&B options on premises as I would always go out to try the many wonderful options of the vibrant Philadelphia restaurant scene. During this trip a special shout out to the front desk attendant James. Check-ins can be sometimes a hassle, his humorous and easy-going personality made the process that much more pleasant. Checked in late at night and the front desk staff looked completely unprofessional. Plain white t shirts no uniforms or anything saying they worked for Sheraton. Got to my room and the door to the cabinet that holds the refrigerator was broken off. Also my toilet would not flush, maintenance came up and found a bar of soap jammed in the toilet preventing it from flushing. The carpet in the rooms is dated and dirty. Also the Sheraton Club lounge morning breakfast is awful, very runny powdered eggs and sauce that looked like it had been cooked a week ago. Management should not be proud of them selves at this facility.Show More
