They left us a lovely card and 2 small sweet treats in our room- a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna area in the basement- very nice, quite loud when some children arrived, noise reverberates in the space. Later we went up to the Hi-So bar, it would have been helpful to know we could have reserved a table at a certain time as they had to shift us twice when people arrived after their booked time. We had been allowed to sit at those tables until the people arrived- it was quite busy, but yummy cocktails and snack. We went for dinner in the Britomart area but didn't stay out long afterwards as a very cold wind. The television has some movies pre-loaded which we tried but it was a shame not to be able to connect our own Netflix. Quiet sleep as had asked for a quiet room- husband found the bed rather hard.
Breakfast was included in our rate, a good selection, however some things (mushrooms especially) got cold on the plate too quickly-the room was cold, I wished I had worn my puffer jacket to breakfast!
The valet parking went smoothly, this was also included in our rate, I had checked. I had tried to ask about that beforehand and it would have helped to have been told the entrance is on Gore Street and you can drive in- this was not clear on the website anywhere. So I could only work that out when we arrived. I had been worried about where to stop to get the valet parking.
The lifts are a bit odd and confusing- my husband got taken up to floor 11 at one stage when we were on floor 4, then back to ground, then to 4. Also we walked down to B1 to look at the conference area, then to B2, but the door from the stairs into the lift area by the gym and pool was locked against us to get to the lift on B2, even with a hotel key? We had to walk up the stairs again.
Finally, we were not warned about the credit card surcharge- if we had been we could have easily settled by EFTPOS and avoided the extra $7 charge. We dislike surcharges especially when there is an option to avoid them.
We had a lovely stay overall but these small issues have meant we give a 4-star not 5-star review.
Checking everything out beforehand I found Lisel Cemert the Reservation Sales Supervisor extremely helpful. All staff were pleasant and polite.Show More
