The hotel has two towers of rooms which makes finding your room from reception a little difficult because you need to travel to one floor then cross it to find your tower and then operate the lifts with a little wooden disc which is your room key also. All a bit of a faff. The key rarely worked in the lift so you were at the mercy of other lift users taking you up or down or nowhere you wanted to go. The bathroom in my room had a frosted glass 'wall' into the main bedroom. Not so private for two users and the light escaped the bathroom into the main room. A strange design feature. I did not have breakfast at the hotel. There was a very good cafe adjacent and I preferred to use it.Show More

We both opted for the burrata, but as it's not served with bread required ordering a serving of focaccia separately. As there are only 4 or 5 main course dishes on the menu, it would be great if the pasta dishes could be ordered as a primo or main course size serving. Both pasta dishes were delicious. We chose to not have dessert, but Antonio brought me a dish of icecream with a sparkler to celebrate my birthday, which was a lovely surprise. Was it an enjoyable evening? Absolutely! Does Flynns Italian offer value for money? Hmmm - there are several other Italian places in town that are far more affordable. The whole place had such a relaxed, chilled vibe. I loved having the bar on the ground floor and the way the hotel is set up across two towers — it never felt crowded. There was live music on the Saturday and entertainment on Sunday, which added to the atmosphere without being overwhelming. The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond. Partway through my stay they were happy to move me and upgrade my room — I checked out of one tower and into another, which was seamless. The new room had an incredible ocean view overlooking the Ferris wheel and the nightlife, which made the experience even better. Great vibe, great staff, great location — I’d happily stay again.Show More

Not a great deal of variety and not hot. There are 3 hotels in the Crystalbrook collection in Cairns but you're you're not allowed to use the sister hotel facilities such as the swimming pool but are allowed to use the restaurant and bars, presumably because you are paying for these. If you have an early departure they will not supply you with a takeaway breakfast (again, unlike other hotels we've stayed at). Several of the sun loungers are broken ie cannot be put into reclune position (not acceptable for a 5* hotel). Would not stay again.Show More
