The Grove Resort has a lot of potential, but our experience was mixed.
Pros:
* The drive into the property is beautiful and feels very resort-like.
* I really appreciate that it’s gated and guarded, so not just anyone can drive in. That helped us feel safer.
* The grounds themselves are charming and well-kept.
* Great amenities for kids: the arcade was fun, the water park looks amazing (even though we couldn’t fully enjoy it due to the cooler temperatures), and there are bars and plenty of activities on-site.
Cons:
* The parking setup feels a bit unsafe. There are many blind spots and tight corners, and it’s easy to get turned around between buildings.
* We were not informed in advance of the $300 deposit required at check-in. That was a surprise.
* Parking is an additional $33–$35 per night. For three nights, I paid $111 just for parking on top of the room rate.
* In our room, the dishwasher did not work at all, and no one ever came to look at it after we reported it.
* We were given very few towels and had to request more. When calling guest services, the staff often sounded rushed, like they wanted to get off the phone quickly.
The biggest issue, and the reason I’m requesting a partial refund, is the noise from a bamboo tree branch scraping and slapping against our windows every time the wind blows. The windows are bolted shut, so we couldn’t open them to move the branch ourselves. The noise was so loud and constant that it woke us up throughout the night and made it almost impossible to rest.
I reported this on Thanksgiving night (November 27). The first person I spoke with was very nonchalant and even mentioned the wind blowing at his own house, which felt dismissive. I made it clear we would not be able to sleep like that. Later, I spoke with the manager, Kiara, around 9 p.m. She said someone would come out. We waited two hours—no one came, no call, no update. When I called back, I was told no one would be coming that night and to try again in the morning.
The next day, no one reached out. I called and waited about 15 minutes, but got no answer, so I walked over to guest services. I saw Kiara, explained the issue again, and was told someone was supposed to come but didn’t. She said she was on her way to a meeting and would call me afterward. She never called, and the issue was never resolved.
I also contacted Priceline to file a complaint. They tried calling the resort but couldn’t get anyone to answer. They sent an email and said they usually get a response within 2–3 hours. It has been much longer with still no response.
Overall, while the property itself is attractive and the family-friendly amenities are good, the lack of follow-through, poor communication, and a dismissive attitude toward serious issues (like constant nighttime noise and broken appliances) really ruined our stay. Many staff members were polite, but some seemed dismissive, and language barriers made it hard to get clear help or a resolution.
We came here to rest, and instead we spent our nights being woken up by loud banging on the windows and chasing down help that never arrived. Because of that, I would not choose to stay here again.Show More
