I recently stayed at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta for a quick 18-hour, girl’s-night-out stay and enjoyed many aspects of the property — with just a few disappointments.

✅ Highlights
• Diamond Elite Breakfast Perk
Very grateful that my IHG Diamond status included breakfast for both me and my guest. Breakfast is advertised under three different names (“Café Americano,” “Americano Bar,” and “Americano Restaurant”), but they’re essentially the same beautiful space on the first floor near Peachtree Road. Server gave bill totaling $46.40 per person for breakfast buffet. A 20% gratuity was automatically included despite it being mostly self-serve. It didn’t appear on my checkout bill, so unsure if it will show up later. Grateful we had the coupons.
The breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty — scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes, parfaits, fruit, bagels, mini jars of spreads, etc. Juice options included orange, grapefruit, apple and cranberry (not fresh-squeezed). Loved the colorful, energetic atmosphere. Diamond members can also order a la carte main menu — great option for a second morning.

⭐ Property & Amenities
The hotel is classic “old-world meets modern art” — beautiful finishes, elegant décor, comfortable lobby seating, and soft background music. I believe Fridays include live music, which adds to the ambience.
On the second level:
• Pool
• Gym
• Spa
Amenity fee of $35+taxes includes 20% discount at Americano (dinner only), $15 spa credit, $10 daily mini bar credit, Cadillac escalade service w/in 2 mile radius, 24hr fitness center and lululemon yoga mat availability.
I redeemed the $15 spa credit for a small sun cream. Staff were friendly, but the checkout process was slow — products weren’t labeled or bar-coded, and the new hostess had to call for authorization. The system felt outdated.

🤔 Extra Costs & Considerations
• The amenity fee + high parking rates feel steep
• No visible security near the entrances — questions required waiting for front desk
• Self-parking is $20 cheaper than valet (and recently increased)
IHG Diamond does not automatically grant Club Lounge access (unlike Marriott Platinum). Club Lounge (located 21st floor) is $150 per day — includes breakfast, snacks, beverages, and social hour. For a short stay, it wasn’t worth it, but reviews make it sound nice if you’re staying longer or getting late checkout. Members can choose lounge access as benefit once reaching 40 or 70 qualifying nights.

🚇 Getting There
Took MARTA Red Line from the airport to Buckhead Station — then about a 10-minute walk. Easy in daylight, but I wouldn’t recommend that route late at night as it passes a park/back alley with some unhoused individuals.
15minute walk to Phipps, 10 minutes to Lenox and very close to shops around Lenox. An AFC complex.

💰 Value
My room — a double queen — ran $350 (or 41K points) with an upgrade to Queen classic high floor worth ~$39. Upgrades are based on availability and this higher room had impressive midtown sunset view.
Overall: Comfortable, but costly redemption for a quick leisure trip.
As someone who travels for leisure 100+ nights a year, I might compare nearby options like the Marriott with Palm restaurant or Embassy Suites next time for personal stays. For business travelers or events, this property absolutely shines — and if someone else were footing the bill, I wouldn’t hesitate to return!
