It is the worst Westin I have ever stayed at, by far. It appears that the ownership is content to charge high prices, live off its past glory, and take advantage of the excellent location. It doesn't feel like a Westin property at all - feels more like a basic highway inn or a airport hotel. The problems started even before we got to the hotel. It took me 5 phone calls and more than 10 times yelling "Operator" into the phone to finally get to a human. I had a specific situation that needed to be handled by a human, but the voice response system kept giving me unrelated options and asking me to call back at the same number that I had used to contact the front desk (as provided by the hotel website) to begin with! It was a total nightmare and just as bad as calling one of those no-frill airlines. We were part of a group of friends and every one of our rooms had issues, partly due to poor maintenance and partly due to apathy and inattentiveness. During our stay, we had the following issues: - Shower dripped continuously. It was so obvious that I can't imagine the cleaning crew didn't notice it when cleaning the room. - There was no trash can in the bathroom and we had to specially request it. - Our balcony had exactly one chair in it, which had us pondering how many solo travelers pick a balcony with a river view. - The riverside bar is under construction so there's a big curtain hanging. We were about 10 friends and wanted to hang out in our hotel and that was not possible. The makeshift bar is a closed room with a single podium-type desk where a harried and overworked server takes orders. The bottles of liquor are all laid out on tables in that room (imagine your kitchen or dining room tables). There are other, better options at these prices. I will not stay at this property again. I feel completely swindled.Show More

I was forced to open the door while naked, with only a whit...On Nov 16, 2025, my partner and service dog were locked out of the hotel and escorted like criminals by the hotel manager through the lobby. I was forced to open the door while naked, with only a white hotel towel barely held together by my disabled hands, in full view of passing guests. The manager refused to let me close the door, demanding ID and credit card verification based on a false “fraud” claim. They claimed I was there fraudulently because the name of the booking credit card and credit card on file for incidentals were different. Then the story changed to the card we were trying to add after being locked out caused the fraud flag and key lockout to begin with. The real issue? A system error during a reservation extension that Westin, their system, and staff failed to handle properly. There was NEVER a fraud flag at all. The system didn’t carry over the credit card from the first reservation to the extension of the stay, so a new check-in was required even though we were extending an existing stay. Despite informing Westin of my service dog’s needs and accessibility requirements, they failed to accommodate us, denied the promised dog package, and disabled our keycards without notice. Staff gaslighted us, changed their stories multiple times, and never apologized. The police were eventually called, and a case was filed. This was a trip to celebrate my service dog’s retirement due to osteoarthritis. Instead, it became a traumatic experience of public humiliation, ADA neglect, and emotional distress. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those with disabilities.Show More

I talked to someone at Marriott on the phone and they said they would email the front desk. The front desk manager Morriah replied and said they would not reinstate my reservation. I was out $1,200. I then had to book the reservation again since this was for work and lost out on another $1,200 by rebooking the room. They tout their loyalty program, but that is clearly not a priority for them. I was not asking for a refund, just get me the same reservation back. Would not recommend this hotel.Show More

It was...Booked through Travelzoo, my husband and I celebrated a weekend anniversary at this beautiful, centrally located hotel on the Riverwalk. Our room was 541 with a view of the Tower Life Building. It was spacious with a very comfortable king-size bed, a large marble bathroom, and a small balcony overlooking the Riverwalk where we could watch the boats pass by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We walked everywhere as the hotel is close to all the wonderful restaurants, the Alamo, the Go Rio boat launch, and the Briscoe Western Museum. The Riverwalk can be reached by taking the stairs or elevator directly from the hotel. Brunch in the hotel restaurant, Zocca, was delicious, and specialty coffees and pastries are available for purchase in the hotel kiosk. The outdoor swimming pool on the 4th floor is fantastic, as it was very hot and muggy (95 degrees +) while we visited. There are lounge chairs and a poolside bar. The waiter at the pool kindly handed out bottles of water to everyone. The staff left sparkling wine and strawberries in our room on our actual anniversary, which was a very sweet touch. For a reasonable price, this is an excellent choice for a hotel stay when visiting San Antonio. We would definitely return. Don’t forget to become a Bonvoy member (free to join), which entitles you to complimentary wifi and other perks.Show More
