( however I do have friends who stayed there recently and highly recommended it, and also gave it a 5 star review). I am visiting Vancouver with 2 others, 1 from USA, 1 from Europe and we decided to go over to Vancouver Island for a couple of days. Whilst trying to coordinate accommodation and sea plane bookings for 3 people, I inadvertently booked Dashwood Manor for the same day I was online and not for the 4 days ahead that I actually intended to. I did not realize my mistake until I was back online several hours later, (by then 3 hours after their office closed) and I got a welcome email from them for that same evening. I immediately phoned, left a message and emailed explaining my mistake. I was offered a credit, valid for a year, but unfortunately everything was fully booked for the time we wanted a few days later. I explained that we are all from different countries, and the chances of getting together at a later date to visit again was remote. As a very kind gesture of goodwill, and most certainly they were not obligated to, I was fully refunded. I would also like to add that this happened at a really busy time of year, the week of Canada Day. Kudos and heartfelt thanks to Iain at Dashwood Manor.Show More

Pros: this place is across the street from a pebbled beach that you can sun bath and hear the waves at night. Bed was very comfortable and room was pretty. Breakfast here is amazing, food is cooked right there and everything was delicious. No self-service. They had at all times water bottles/coffee/tea/soda in the dinning room. They had games if you wanted the play available. Con: The rug looked like it needed a deep clean The floor squeaks, but it is an older home it’s to be expected. No AC in room, just a fan. No staff after 4:30pm. But there is a number to call if needed. The street is busy at all hours and there is traffic sounds.Show More

Our room was huge and decently appointed — the bed was superb—very comfortable and ornate. If there is any drawback the location is at a rather busy intersection along Dallas Road at Cook St. There can be a lot of vehicle noise. In the plus side 1) the room itself 2) the very convenient location 3) the excellent breakfast 4) the waterside park that is excellent for walking and jogging and cycling 5) the Cook village with shops and an amazing vegetable market less than 1/2 mile up Cook St. in sum a great place to stay. Spacious room with great light. Breakfast room is sunny with a view. Staff was courteous, friendly and accommodating. We had a restful stay and enjoyed walking by the water, through Beacon Hill park and around downtown Victoria. We were so glad we stayed a bit away from the ferry dock and cruise docking at fisherman’s wharf.Show More
