The lobby entrance is so sparkling clean and incredibly inviti...After a lot of research and looking at dozens of hotels, we decided on Howard Johnson Water Playground, and we sure made a GREAT choice! The lobby entrance is so sparkling clean and incredibly inviting. The hotel reception staff made us feel welcomed the minute we stepped through the door. The Halloween themed staff pumpkin contest was absolutely adorable. We were able to check in early and both of our rooms were ready. They were able to fulfill my request for adjoining rooms if possible. We booked two superior park view rooms and they were perfect! The cleanliness of the room was amazing. There were plenty of outlets for devices, a large safe in the closet, a table to eat breakfast and snacks, a refrigerator that kept food cold and not frozen, a microwave, and amble storage space for groceries. The bathroom had two double sinks and again, ample space for toiletries without cluttering the counter. The shower pressure was great and the toilet flushed quietly. We had the most amazing view of Disneyland and the fireworks from our balcony were spectacular. What I loved most about being on the 7th floor was the half moon shaped windows at the ceiling. This allowed natural light and helped with waking naturally. I just loved this room! The beds and pillows were super comfortable and the bath towels were good quality. The elevators were always prompt and housekeeping did an amazing job. The walk to Disneyland was a breeze. We had two children with us (6 and 9) and we had no issues walking back and forth several times a day. The water playground was just the right size. It was large enough for the kids to play and we could see them from our lounge chair or one of the umbrella tables inside the play area. There was an attendant at the gate with plenty of towels and attendants at the water slides. We also went to the quiet pool and found that pool had arm floats and life jackets for the kids should you need one. Both pools offered plenty of towels and were well supervised. This hotel is an easy walk to lots of restaurants such as McDonald’s, Panera, Mimi’s Cafe etc. it’s super easy to cross the street and there’s always happy park visitors coming and going. I honestly can’t think of one negative about our experience at this hotel. Clearly, the manager of this property is on top of things. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Howard Johnson Water Playground again when in Anaheim.Show More

Took us 5-6 mins to walk to and from disneyland each day we went. Very easy to also arrive from the SNA airport (took 25 mins) and that was a huge plus. I also appreciated having the option to have an earlier check in (1pm) and didn't think the $30 was a huge fee to pay for that extra. The little water park/area they have is nice for young kids; I do think if you have kids over 6-7 years old, it might not be as appeasing to them. But it was a good option to have for our toddler.Show More

Not our 1st choice, but it has always been in the top 5 for Harbor Blvd Hotels near Disneyland. The hotel is well appointed, friendly staff, nice clean rooms, and comfortable beds. Where it lacks is always the bathroom. The shower head is non-adjustable, no pressure settings available. What you get is what you get and it’s meh at best. Worst of all, there is no hot water, none, zero, nada! This makes it for a very uncomfortable experience when trying to wash up and relax after a long day in the parks. We reported this 3 days out of our 4 day stay and every time they said they would send maintenance to fix it. Yup, never fixed the issue. We thought it was just us or our room, turns out nope. We talk to another guest and they had the same issue. Seems like a property problem that they do not care or not equipped to fix, yet they are ok charging the rates that they do to the customers. Because if this last experience, this property will be taken out of our rotation as a selection forever. If you like good shower pressure and hot water, stay elsewhere. We came in early the first day and spent the afternoon at the water park Castaway Cove. Our grandkids, 6, 4 and 2, had a blast playing in the water and on the slides. Even the adults participated in the fun in the hot tub and pool. The walk to Disney was really easy, smooth on sidewalks and not too long. It is similar to the distance to the Disney hotels. It was close enough for us to bring the littlest one home earlier in the evening and the others stayed for more fun. We watched the fireworks from our balcony. The rooms in Building 1 were well appointed, comfortable and clean. Parking fee was reasonable. There is no restaurant on site and breakfast is not included. However, the room had a mini fridge and microwave so we brought our own and picked up dinner at one of the local restaurants. No problem! Also, we made several trips to the gift shop for snacks, drinks and ice cream! Overall a really great place to stay to visit the themeparks.Show More
