The hotel itself - the decor and the sense of quality are delightful, and the ro...I stayed at the Ivey's Hotel for one night (Sat night) with my college-aged daughter for a quick mom/daughter getaway. The hotel itself - the decor and the sense of quality are delightful, and the room was spotless. The staff is also wonderful, particularly the bartenders and the waitstaff at Sophia's Lounge. Breakfast was very satisfying and the server was great at his job. That said, even my daughter who has a higher tolerance for noise was taken aback by the degree of noise from the bars across the street. It was obvious once we were there that we would hear the noise; the bars are literally right across a narrow street if you are in a room facing that side. I literally had solid eye contact with patrons when I peeked out the window. Digital signage casts bright lights (though there are effective blackout curtains) and you'll hear loud thumping music and shouting and laughter and just general bar noise until 2pm or later. Lots of other reviews mention this - pay attention, unlike me. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep even with the earplugs provided. Another major annoyance was that, despite booking through Amex Platinum which offers "noon checkin, when available," we were not able to get into our room until 5:30pm. Major inconvenience for a one-night stay, and we were told to wait in the bar (complimentary glass of wine or champagne) but sitting in a bar for almost 2 hours with an underage young adult is not a great solution. I should also mention that when booking through Amex, I paid over $800/night which 1) seems my experience should be better, and 2) I felt a bit silly given I found that others had paid half that (people talk when kept at a bar for 2 hours) but this might also be an Amex issue and not the hotel's entirely. Couple other nits that I would not mention if not paying premium rates - the TV is not upgraded to a Smart TV so no streaming; only DirecTV channels (would have at least liked to watch one of my Netflix shows if awake until 2am), and the handheld shower had a leak in one of the connection joints so sprayed an aggressive fine mist at weird angles which I flagged for maintenance for after our departure. Bottom line - hotel is beautiful and there's a lot to love about the staff. However, I was left wishing I had booked us at the Ritz down the street. I opted for Ivey's even with my Marriott Titanium status because I thought a great boutique hotel would be more special for our little weekend getaway. It could have been, but missed on a couple major things that made for a somewhat disappointing stay.Show More

The moment I walked into the lobby, I was struck by the hotel’s elegant design — a perfect blend of historic charm and modern sophistication. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, making me feel like a valued guest right away. My room was stunning: spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated with thoughtful details that made all the difference. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bathroom luxurious, and I loved the high-end touches like the Nespresso machine and plush robes. The Library Lounge was one of my favorite spots — a cozy, quiet retreat where I enjoyed complimentary breakfast in the morning and a relaxing glass of wine in the evening. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, just steps away from great restaurants, shops, and attractions. Every interaction with the staff felt genuine — they clearly take pride in providing an exceptional guest experience. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines such personalized service with boutique luxury, but The Ivey’s does it effortlessly. I can’t recommend The Ivey’s Hotel highly enough. First we had a suite that was on the second floor overlooking Tryon St. it was extremely noisy, especially nighttime bar music which pulsated until 2am, I guess the earplugs on the night stands should have tipped us off, but there should be a disclaimer about this. Secondly housekeeping was less than ideal, they apparently only work certain hours if you need anything outside of those times you wait until they are there. Our room on our first day was never cleaned despite being gone all afternoon. The food and drinks from Sophias were marginal at best, if I wanted my bagel from a bag and cream cheese from a one serving plastic container I could have stayed at a budget hotel that offers free breakfast. Lastly I am still trying to get an itemized bill sent to my email on record despite multiple call attempts(no answer and never return your call) and several responses to emails I did receive from them about staying again, can't figure that one out. In a word would not stay there again.Show More

I won’t stay here again, though. I was awakened from a sound sleep by EDM dance music from the club down the street that didn’t stop until 2:15. The complimentary ear plugs in the cute little Ivey’s branded box didn’t help. The desk clerk the next morning claimed that had never been a problem on a Thursday night before, though it was an issue on weekends. It was the night before Halloween so maybe he was being truthful. He suggested asking for a room on the atrium side away from the street next time. He said that would be a free upgrade with my Amex. The other issue is that they could not give me a bill at checkout because breakfast hadn’t posted. When the email bill came they had not applied my Amex platinum credits so the bill was inflated by $100. They refunded that when I called them.Show More
